I went watching Froch/Kessler 2 at the local casino (imagine the people in there) well anyway, these two weekend millionaires in their suits behind me were having an argument, one believe Carl Froch would be too strong for Pacquiao the other believed Manny would be too fast. I assumed it was just like a fantasy matchup type thing, until the fat one said and I quote "They should make it for Froch's next fight, i'd go to America and watch that deffo, I'd tell the Mrs is was business haha! Winner can fight Mayweather" the other lad agreed but thought Manny Pacquiao would only wanna fight in China.
My Missus who has always fancied David haye now has took a liking to Carl froch.strange but I don't mind as he is the man and I'm in love with his missus
I wouldn't call you a casual your maybe a 'new' boxing fan who still has stuff to learn (I'm the same especially regarding non uk fighters as you say) but a casual is the type who just watches 2/3 fights a year. You can be a hardcore boxing fan and not be an expert, in my opinion.
I heard a girl talking on the way home yesterday: Bloke next to her: did you have a good bankholiday weekend Girl: yeah i didnt do a lot...i watched the fight on saturday you know whats his name erm erm erm you know erm, anyway i didnt really know what was going on but it was quite good **** me i could have slapped her especially with the mood i was in re: casuals / bandwagon jumpers over Froch (see my post in the celebs/froch thread)
This, definately this!! Won a few quid on Rocky Fielding winning prize fighter. Gave pretty much a post fight review pre-fight on how I thought Haye v Valuev would pan out. Now, every time there's a decent fight, "what are the odds like on this..." Actually on that point, text the other day "A mate tells me that it's 19-1 for Groves to get knocked out. Apparently he's fighting some monster from south america. What you reckon?". I replied to say that it'll be 19-1 for a reason and gave him some pointers (like the fella not having a decent W on his record, hardly ever fighting outside of South America, not knowing a decent Uruaguayan boxer before, him being the wrong side of 30 etc) but acknowledged that I'd never seen Groves' opponent fight before so I couldnt be 100% confident but I'd be very surprised if Groves got beat. The reply? "Worth a tenner then?". I despair sometimes.
yeah loads, I've now took to just putting my predictions for the weekend up on my twitter and facebook although nobodies really bothered unless its a big fight.
Yeah defo, I got **** this weekend though because I said safe money was froch points but mine was on a stoppage for froch, got so much **** and my mates telling me that I hadn't a clue cause they lumped in on his stoppage! Not my fault
