As Long as no championship is on the line I don't see a problem with Catchweights. Pacquiao's sin was fighting for championships twice at catchweight. Fool me once and shame on me fool me twice and Pacquiao's a fraud.

Mayweather gives no ****s for ripping a page out of Pac's booklet. Although... Canelo is like a SMW.... he will outweigh mayweather like crazy... 2 LBS don't seem like a like, but Cotto seemed to think it was, unless he was backtracking because he took a L, as he was singing a different tune on fight night. Anyways... at least mayweather didnt make it a 150 lbs catchweight like Pac did against Margo.

i don't think canelo is too upset about it, considering he JUST said two days ago (at the scene) that the mayweather fight has to be at his weight or else it won't happen.

and now he's agreed to the 152 weight....i'm sure he'll be ok. like someone else said, he's 22...losing the two pounds shouldn't take that huge of a toll on him.

Thats what ****ing happens when fighters get in the driver's seat though :-(

At least Floyd beat a better fighter in Delahoya at the full limit. Not a fan of the catchweight though.

Floyd was going to fight him anyway. He has a pretty good risk to lose even at 154. You have to understand that Floyd doesn't have all that many marketable dance partner either.

What is the problem? Is Floyd a hypocrite? The case can be made because he shitted on Manny for fighting at a catchweight now he is. But there is nothing wrong with both fighters fighting at 152. I'm glad this fight happened.

Does GBP? Canelo is their future. They are just subcontractors to Floyd. GBP might back the fine and tell Canelo not to worry about it. It is in GBP's long term best interest to have Canelo's hand raised at the end of this fight.

Pretty much this. Two guys pick a weight they think fair and fight. The belts are another story. If you are fighting for a weight class title you should be entitled to the full limit.

Could not agree with you more. I'm still not sure how excited I am for this fight at 152 because I don't know how hard it is for Canelo to get to 154. He seems to carry slightly more body fat and maybe his seemingly less than optimal conditioning is indicative of such. I'll wait and see how Canelo looks at weigh in. If he's really gaunt then the fight will lose most of it's luster, if not all. Nonetheless, it has the potential to be a really good fight if Canelo isn't significantly impacted by the cutting to 152. My guess is he will be good to go.

  11. For the record, I still think Mayweather beats Canelo at 154.

Alvarez drains himself already to make 154. The boy baloons 10-15 pounds overnight.

Double standard here though, y'all will praise this victory but you guys dismiss Pacquiao's dismantling of Cotto.

And don't give me that bull**** of Cotto looked bad in his last outing against Clottey. The headbutt obscurred Cotto's vision and if not for that, Cotto would have won a comfortable decision.

I don't think Oscar was as big as Canelo was. I don't recall Oscar ever coming into the ring as a light heavyweight.

That's definitely a possibility. Canelo winning would be absolutely massive for GBP and definitely worth the fines.

I personally cannot see Canelo winning regardless though.
