Mayweather vs. Alvarez: Catchweight of 152 !!

It is a lot since Canelo isn't going to just fall right at 152, he might come in 151 or 151 1/2, and that does weaken him. If guy fights for a title he should be at that weight. This is another Sugar Ray Leonard/Donny Lalonde thing.

 

I will say what I said it was Pac in the same situation. this a contract between two fighters . . . both fighters know what they are getting into when the sign on the bottom line

Exactly this. Is the catch weight ideal? No. However, we get the fight we wanted and much like Pac/Cotto, I think it will be an exciting affair. Mayweather SD The Ginger. Then he is free to clean out all the possible 140/147 contenders without question.

Dont get this. Heavier Canelo is slower he moves plus he's facing a great defensive fighter in Floyd so those combos wont work as well as they did on blown up fighters. We saw him reduced to a single shot fighter against Trout. Still glad fight is made and hope Canelo makes weight well. Wish him and Floyd the best. This taints the fight a bit.

It was actually a brilliant move by Floyd. He played this really well. His side put out the word that he wanted the fight at 147. Pretty much everyone in the media said that the fight should take place at a CW. Some even said the fight should happen at WW. The media will not get on Mayweather for this, and casual fans won't know the difference. Hardcore neutral fans will be okay with it. Mayweather fans will be fine with it. Only Mayweathet critics will have an issue. However, they have an issue with pretty much every Mayweather opponent. People won't give much credence to their opinion.

 

Cotto is one of Pac's best wins despite the CW.

I see no reason for fans to show bias and not reward Floyd with his rightful praise.
