He did leave himself open for criticism, and rightfully so if Canelo struggles to cut the extra 2 lbs.

I gave him credit for that fight. Even though i thought it is kind of mess up that he ask cotto for the fight and then shafted him. Canelo ask Floyd for the fight and floyd basically allows canelo to keep his advantage. not to mention that he is peaking prime no margo beatdown and 12 years younger.:deal

Probably not. He would just be lining Mayweather's pockets even more.

if he misses 152 it won't be by two pounds lol.. might as well come in at 160 unless there's a per pound penalty.

That doesn't fly. Floyd is fighting in a division south of Alvarez. He is a welterweight (lest we forget), and a small one at that. He's not being forced to fight at 152, but he's still making a compromise in order to get the fight done while asking -or "forcing"- Canelo to make one as well.

I'd rather the fight be at the 154lb limit, but Floyd obviously has reservations about making it there. With that being the case, I'm still excited about the fight.

    Are you serious?

Floyd would get less credit at 147 and more heat from haters.
    You with me now?

  9. A cost benefit analysis shows that it would pay off to come in overweight if it means he wins.

He loses $600k or whatever to Floyd for coming in overweight, but if he wins because of it, the financial rewards would be in the millions.

It's all irrelevant though, because Floyd wins either way.

...at least according to Mayweather logic

Floyd in May of last year

"I look at Miguel Cotto as an undefeated fighter because he faced Pacquiao, but Pacquiao caught him at a catch weight. He wasn't the best Miguel Cotto. He was drained. He wasn't hydrated"

So if Canelo loses, and we are to follow Mayweather's own logic, ginger will stay undefeated. At 152 he wont be the best Canelo and will be drained after all :thumbsup

Floyd should make the fight at 144lbs catchweight then! And if they ***** some more throw in a 28 by 28 feet ring! Give them something real to cry about!

we've all acknowledged a win for Floyd at 154 instead of a catchweight would of meant more. we get it.

The problem though is that we don't know what the overweight penalty is. Remember Pacquiao asked for a $10MM per pound penalty in the first negotiation with Mayweather and Mayweather accepted. What if there is a 7 figure per pound weight penalty? Alvarez won't be coughing that up. I'm sure he won't be overweight though. He's in his early 20's and he just had a fight.
