Serious Question here...... Mosley went 12 rounds Josesito went 5 rounds (a 140 pound fighter) Matthew Hatton went 12 rounds what does canelo posses that could possibly be of threat to floyd? He's not high volume fighter, he's not in your face, he's doesn't have KO power. I feel like the ortiz fight was more dangerous than this fight honestly. is there something I'm missing? edit: i will give canelo credit for having a pretty good jab, above average speed in a consistent form (not explosive), and ok timing. But he's fought lesser competition or smaller competition his entire career so far.
yes Canelo has a great chance. Ask yourself, why did Castillo, Cotto and Oscar give Mayweather a tough fight
castillo and cotto could fight in your face and smother floyd which was successful..... that is not canelo oscar didn't do great vs floyd. floyd won that fight 8-4 range but the judges did odlh a favor
Big Chance. What was cotto doing pre Mayweather after he touched up may a lot that forced may to switch trainers? getting KTFO by Pacquiao... styles make fights, passed fights can be used as a gauge.. but are not very relevant here.
canelo is not cotto. Cotto is an in your face grind you down boxer Canelo grinds you down via his counter punching.
cotto is not an in your face grind you down boxer? lmao just cause you saw him employ a great gameplan against may, YDSAB Cotto vs Margo, was boxing exhibition. until cotto got ktfo Cotto has always been a good boxer puncher, but he ain't a pressure fighter.
and no canelo is not cotto he is bigger, faster, stronger, actually has a dominant right hand with one power to stun you with one shot, not a one handed fighter like cotto, and a great left hand like cottos... and in top of that Cotto has let down on his body punching, canelo has not, canelo is the sports best body punchers, so yeah.... he is definitely not cotto. he is fresh and hitting prime
What are you trying to prove with this? Josesito went 5 rounds and got his ass brutally kicked and dropped several times Mosley went 12 rounds? and when was the last time Mosley got stopped? oh right, never Mosley and Hatton are iron chinned so what if they lasted the distance, and Saul was pretty weight drained against Hatton Canelo has more than enough power for Mayweather, he had Trout on wobbly legs numerous times and made him chicken dance, something Cotto couldn't do, not by a long shot. Canelo also has very good skills and is one of the most vicious combination punchers in the game, he has a good chance against Floyd specially compared to the cherrypicks he's been taking for almost a decade
cotto grinds out 9 opponents out of 10. just because he didn't do it vs margarito doesn't mean thats not his style. beat zab that way fought floyd that way ground out mosley (didn't mow him over tho) ground out malignaggi and pretty much everyone else he beat. he had to adjust vs margarito and box but boxing vs marg is "do able" with how wide and wild margairto is edit: your misinterpretting my definition of pressure margarito = relentless pressure. 100% balls out always coming at you with full force cotto = high pressure but not relentless. he picks his spots when to pressure you but he will always be in your face and slowly walking you down until you crumble.
the short answer is no. the long answer is more complex the general stigma is that Mayweather doesn't fight unless he's 100% he can win so that's bad news for Alvarez. At this point I think people should start to realize that unless there currently fighting at 160+ nobody's beating Mayweather. Right now as a fan I would compare his career to Micheal Jordan's towards the end 95-98 years where you know he's going to win you just wanna see the final stat line
my mistake..... 5 rounds but who gives a **** about the cotto fight..... canelo was probably 175 vs trout and cotto was probably 160. cotto hasn't dropped a fighter with 1 punch to the face in yearrrrrrsss. Canelo did it but it doesn't mean he has great power. i'm not saying this is a cherry pick on floyds part but styles make fights. I can't see this fight being dangerous for floyd
Bc there good fighters? Your emphasizing size too much. Canelo is a good fighter, with size. He's got good boxing skills, great combination puncher, great jab, lots of power. Very good all around fighter.
bogatazo makes analysis threads that are like 33 pages long and predict the wrong outcome. I appreciate his effort and i'm sure a fight prediction with canelo winning will come soon ..... probably titled "a technical analysis of why canelo beats floyd" i'll be waiting....
