anyone critisizing the catchweight is totally ignorant to how important the weight issues were for this fight
it was never going to be at 154, this is a good compromise

i didn't think the fight would be made

Are you a selective reader or are you unable to comprehend the other 90% of my post? I really never criticized the catchweight. I only questioned whether Floyd had enough leverage to force a catchweight...given the other available opponents. It's a forum FFS...thinking outside of the box is allowed.

Nobody thought the fight would be made.

Considering it seemed to be a tug of war between 47 and 54 with NO ONE ON ESB THINKING THE FIGHT WOULD HAPPEN IN SEPTEMBER, I'd say it was a very good compromise and I'm glad we've got a fight.

Wish it was at 154, but I'm not oblivious to the current state of boxing as some are.

It was there to give Pacquiao another title in another division, nothing to do with benefiting Margarito.

Say what you want about Pacquiao but atleast he never pretended he wanted make sure his opponent was comfortable UNLIKE Mayweather who always liked to claim he wanted to fight the 'best' version of the guy he was facing.

    145lb Cotto
    152lb Canelo

    What's the difference?

Canelo weighed in at 153 for his last fight. Mayweather 146. Is 152 closer to 153 or 146? Just asking....

Even your biggest catchweight hater says that the Cotto win is one of Pacquiao's best, so I don't know why people are bitching so much about it.

Everybody agrees 154 would be ideal.

But lets not act like we should treat Mayweather doing that to Alvarez as somehow worse than Pac doing it to Cotto.

Pac V DLH was not a catchweight! It was a legit 147 fight, 1 guy went up 2 divisions, the other went down 1. DLH misjudged it and clearly didn't come down properly...his fault he didn't lose weight properly

Yeah, it's disappointing (and quite funny at the same time) that he's felt the need to bring him down. But at least it reveals his "I want fighters to be comfy" thing to be a load of horse**** (a long with most of his other claims) and people will finally stop giving Pac **** for doing the same thing.

Neither is bad IMO, I just don't like titles being on the line in these catchweight bouts.
