Actually, that's not a bad loss for a network launching a new enterprise. Don't be mistaken, this was a new enterprise. I'm sure Showtime can justify losing $12 million as money spent on creating larger brand exposure. Getting their name dropped on the Final Four, on ESPN, and in every magazine for a couple of months is a decent return on that investment. They could have easily dropped $12 million on typical advertising.
