I give Floyd credit here, most dangerous opponent he's taken on in a long time by some way. This is a BIG step up from the likes of Guerrero, shot blown up Cotto, Ortiz etc

Shame about the catchweight but Canelo ain't exactly a huge JMW, losing the 2 extra pounds shouldn't be an issue

It's a catchweight bout between two champs of the same division. It would catch some flak regardless, but a lot more because it's Mayweather.

*****s in damaged control:lol::patsch...there is a catchweight. We wouldn't have been saying all these thing if there weren't a catchweight. And the reason why we say it is because *****s and Floyd always say catchweight is BS...now suddenly it's very acceptable :patsch.

i think volume beats floyd. canelo is not a volume puncher like pac. reason why fight never happened. floyd likes to control the fight. if u try to box him, he will pick off your shots and hit you back. u got to be like castillo and unload to the body and head, hit him any where and every where

Whether it's an issue or not that's not the case here, the case here is that *****s and Floyd have always gone saying that PAC is nothing but a catchweight fighter and Floyd fight everybody at their weight. Now suddenly they've changed their tune that catchweight is very reasonable to for this fight and Canelo shouldn't be affected at all .

it's not a cherry pick because this is the fight that most people want Floyd to take. Canelo is THE champ at 154. i don't like the fact that Canelo has to drop 2 pounds, but hey, it's better than nothing.

i'm really looking forward to this one.

some nice fights are coming off...

    Fury vs Pulev
    Bute vs Pascal
    Lucas machine vs Garcia

maybe the end of all the pullouts and the fights we wanted not happening are over... just hope i didn't speak too soon.

you don't think Canelo is a big JMW? he's massive! he won't be at the weight for too much longer i think.

It's a good fight, and it should get credit. I have no problem with the catch weight, I think it's a reasonable compromise. Logically the most credit is due when you fight at your opponents weight, but that isn't always likely, so meet in the middle.

Alvarez was one of the 5 for his remaining fights that I hoped he would face, so I'm obviously very happy to see that it seems to be on. My ideal scenario was that he face Alverez last, but in the spirit of meeting in the middle - this is fine.

Sensible money has to be on a Floyd UD, or even a late stoppage if Canelo gasses (size won't mean so much then), but it's certainly more interesting than his other recent fights.

He's broad but short looks around the same height as Floyd. don't think he has any trouble making 154 and 152 shouldn't drain him. I could be wrong of course

He was never that good in the first place, floyd fans themselves have bashed him for being overrated but then cry for getting no credit after the fight. He got handed first belt & unified titles while only fighting one legitimate top 5 contender in trout. They're both overrated if you ask me but I'll give floyd some credit after he sparks the ginger kid at 154lb.
