If a fight can't be made at an established weight limit, it should not be made at all. End of. It's part of what makes the sport a joke.

You might as well do away with weight classes altogether. Just make sure two fighters weigh in at no more than 7 pounds apart.

Indeed, because ESB is choc-full of world class dieticians and Strength and Condistioning coaches with an indepth knowledge of Saul Alvarez's body.

How many catchweight fights does he have that evened the playing field for him? I can think of 2 - the Marquez catchweight was more for Marquez' benefit

I disagree, as i chose to make it clear from the opening post, that i have no issue if 2 fighters want to fight at a catchweight, if it gives us a fight we want.

We all wanted this fight, floyd didnt like the weight differance so he wanted a catchweight. No issues.

This thread is purely about poking fun at the many posters, and floyd himself who were so against catchweights untill now.

    Canelo could have said no.

It was a negotiation, and this is what they came up with.

If 2 professional fighters agree to a weight, then I really couldnt care less what the weight is.

No one cared when Hopkins fought De La Hoya did they?

That may be true but I've talked to people who see SRL as truly a 3/4 weight champ and discredit the 168/175 bs, so this 152 is bs still a big fight.

Don't take the Jordan comparison in such a literal tense I use it in a since that like Jordan towards the end you knew he was always going to win it in the end, but as a fan/hater you just wanna see how many Rings/Titles there actually going to finish with.

One man's being open about why he has catchweights, whilst the other is a hypocrite. Yet you'll choose to criticise the former. Fair enough.

But I agree. I too have no problem with catchweights as long as they are fair. Which in both cases of Mayweather and Pac, they were/are. <-- edit: actually with Mayweather's we won't know until the fight.

It's unbelievable how everything you write is so wholesomely moronic. Also, in the UK your name means '*****' so your alias is just as jackass as the **** you spew. Stop typing and get back to flippin' burgers.

I sure as hell cared. In fact I'm remember doing exponential amounts of bitching on here when that fight was made. This isn't about individual fighters or fights, but the sport in general.

I get people want to see big fights, and catchweights are a device for it to happen. Of course Canelo would take the fight, and he should. But if you think boxing should actually have some kind of ****ing structure to it, you would be against catchweights. Period.

Catchweights aren't that evil. They weren't criticised this badly until it became a reason to discredit Pacquiao. But it's ok. Now that Mayweather's using them, catchweights go back to being ok again.

Edit: But I do understand that there have been genuine fans that have hated them all along for the reasons you've stated.
