Canelo or Vitali...who was greener coming to the biggest fight of their careers?

    Both Canelo and Vitali have something in common, both were inexperienced and green as cucumbers (at fighting top level opposition) when the biggest shot of their careers suddenly arrived

    Vitali's only previous fight against top opposition was Byrd, when he faced the ATG unified champion Lennox Lewis

    Canelo will only have Trout on his resume, when he faces the P4P king and ATG Mayweather next September


    Who could be considered
    This content is protected
    , Vitali or Canelo?

    and will Canelo be able to replicate or maybe surpass Big Vit's success and give the huge favorite the beatdown of his life, possibly scaring him into early retirement? Will Mayweather ¨win¨ in controversial fashion and deny Canelo a rematch, prompting endless debates in the boxing community until the end of times?

    Alvarez had the better individual win.

    And if you took out there top 5 opponents and looked at the next 5-10, I don't know, it could get interesting.

    Obviously age is one thing...

    yeah, this is a tough call, I think Vitali's opposition prior to the Lewis fight was a bit better than Canelos', but then again, Vitali didn't beat his most important opponent up to that point, while Canelo did

    You *****s should be ashamed that the biggest challenge your sperm donor, a supposedly ATG on pair with Robinsons and Haglers, has taken since the DLH fight ages ago is a green as cucumber guy at a catchweight :lol:

    Anyway, I'm supporting Canelo and hoping for the upset, it'll be divine justice for the P4P king of cherrypicks

    They're about equal. I'd disagree that Vitali didn't beat his most important opponent, that would be Herbie Hide, from whom he took the WBO title. Byrd wound up being the more regarded fighter, partly because he got the (injury) win over Vitali, but Hide would have been more well regarded if he had got the win instead. Donald was a very underrated fighter, though, top 10 at the time, and Vitali beat him the fight before LL (actually the only person to ever ko him).

    Anyway, both fairly green, but both with enough experience to legitimately contend. Just like LL though, watch the haters come out and immediately say that, instead of noting that Canelo is somewhat green, Mayweather is "shot" if its a close match or Canelo wins.

    You have a point about Donald but I dont consider Hide a great win, he was a pretty damn good cruiser but never really effective as heavyweight. I agree, both Canelo and Vitali are fairly green but both have the tools to provoke an upset
