Floyd won 9 rounds of that Cotto fight so I guess it was kind of easy

Sure, it COULD have a negative impact on Alvarez. But I believe he fought Baldomir at 151 and even said after that fight he wanted to go down to 147 where he's more comfortable. I know that was a couple years ago but he's still only 23. He has plenty of time to get the weight off. I'm a fan of Floyd. And I wish he just fought him at 154 so there's no possible excuse. But looking at it objectively with no bias, I really don't think it will have any impact.

And also, for people saying Mayweather only asked for the catchweight to try and drain Alvarez. "Why would he do it if it wouldn't have an effect" is what I've been seeing on the boards. Maybe it's cause Mayweather knows there's no shot he weighs more than 152 and he wants it as fair as possible.

I would of Preferred 154, I believe Floyd beats canelo @ 154. The catchweight will give people ammo against Floyd to say canelo was drained ec..... It will at the end of the day taint his victory if he wins. Canelo came in at 153 vs trout I believe he can make 152 without it effecting him more then normal, so it's not that big a deal at the end of the day because canelo will be @ 170s come fight night.

To add we all know canelo will have the size and power advantage come fight night. Floyd will be eating to make 152, canelo will be draining down to make it. On fight night Floyd will come in @ around 152, canelo will be in the 170s. This catchweight seems fair when you look at it that way, both fighters agreed to it, they aren't complaining then we shouldn't ether.

Huh? More comfortable at 147? I seriously doubt he said that.

It's a standard catchweight fight, and not really different than most that have been made, in terms of the fighters reaching a fair compromise. It's a huge fight between two stars, with both fighters coming off big wins. Canelo will have big advantages in terms of weight, strength, and youth. Floyd will have his in skill, experience, and speed. On paper, it's the best fight in boxing.

Touche. But maybe that statement was made more in line with his desire for a big money fight with Floyd or Pac than what his ideal weight class is. In the end, I can't complain too much.

I also scored the fight 117-111 Floyd . But Scorecards dont always tell the whole story , there were a lot of competitive Rounds . That fight was anything but "easy" for Floyd . It was a tough bloody battle and Floyd acknowledged that when he said " Cotto is the toughest guy i ever fought "

I don't like catchweights at all but once you say you'll fight someone at a catchweight, you're stuck. When Dawson called Ward out and said he'll fight him at 168, he has to stand by it. Canelo called Floyd out and he actually said 150 so Floyd being the biggest star in the sport made him stay true to his word. Is Floyd a hypocrite? of course but if someone off offers to sell you a

for $100, 000 but you can really afford to pay $110, 000, are you still going to pay $110, 000? I don't think so.

No, I hear ya. And I Really wish the fight was just at 154 so there was no chance of an excuse or a possibility Alvarez doesn't come in at 100%.
