    Round 3

Heffron is moving in and barking rapidly to leave no doubt in judges' minds as to how busy he is on the inside - should they be harboring any. His gloves indeed are tattooing Gray's frontside to match his quite heavily inked back and upper arms. (reminiscent in placement and style of Kessler's pieces, actually :think). A few slap hooks by Gray on the backfoot, scoring lightly and not deterring Heffron whatsoever. Heffron is catching Gray with jabs sloping up his forehead as Gray leans far back extending his own measuring jab. They spend the last minute in a close-range jabbing duel, Heffron consistently getting the better.

    10-9 Heffron

    30-27 Heffron

    Round 4

Long delay in Heffron's corner fixing tape on his gloves. Heffron comes forward and lobs fat hooks into Gray's sides, looking to swarm in and club at his head when Gray ducks and leans in. Gray slithers free and tries controlling Heffron's arms by pushing them down and pinning them in, then grinds his own forearms into Heffron's face to get separation before pushing a tentative jab. Heffron is ripping up the body at mid-range, jumping back into a peekaboo stance in between volleys. Gray keeps tying up and shoving off where he can, refusing the fight. Heffron is leading with the right now, easing it slowly in towards Gray's chest to force him to hoist up his arms with elbows sliding up over his belly, using the right almost in reverse of the jab to range-find and set up big hooks to the body.

    10-9 Heffron

    40-36 Heffron

    Round 5

Heffron is barking and hooking the body, as much as he can before Gray envelops him in his long arms or simply bows into him, bearing down with his weight and mulling his chin into Heffron's crown. Very ugly and stalled action. Timeout called. Now it's Gray who goes to his corner to fix glove tape. Heffron waits patiently in a neutral corner, doing a light Irish jig to keep the blood flowing in his extremities. Time in. Jabs by Heffron, chasing Gray into the ropes. Lots of flopping and low ducking by Gray, before hurtling in against Heffron and tying up around his waist. Big shoeshine by Heffron, all caught on the arms. Gray is doing nothing but clinch now. Big right hand loaded up by Gray just before the bell, missing as Heffron scoots back.

    10-9 Heffron

    50-45 Heffron

Nope. So far we've had two six-rounders, including this one ending now.

Still to come we have two eight-rounders, a four-round swing bout, the 10-round co-feature, and then Gethin vs. Diaz - like I said, a while. :yep

I think the noise of Heffron's shouts actually has more impact as his punches.

    Round 6

Heffron is thumping away with body combos, bouncing his wrists off Gray's hips. Gray hits on the break and Heffron shrugs at the ref before resuming his attack. Gray flashes a cheeky grin, and lands a left uppercut on Heffron's groin. Now the ref cautions him. Gray seems indifferent. Heffron follows throwaway jabs down the middle with big sidewinder rights to the body. Gray backs up and paws jabs, painting himself into a corner. Heffron shoeshines up into his gloves for a diversion and then begins digging substantial hooks into the body. Gray slides down the ropes to get free and lets his butt sag on the middle one, slapping a few weak counters out. Heffron lands a CRACKING right on the face, just before the final bell.

    10-9 Heffron

    60-54 Heffron

    Kieron is one negative *******.

Maybe that's why he only has a 5% stoppage rate. (and success in only a quarter of his bouts)

So far we have seen two prospects (Cunningham & Heffron) who look useful enough when matched as they were today but each with abundant enough flaws to be found out at British/Commonwealth level (as discovered in Heffron's case already, when he fell to Vassell), topping out well short of Euro.

Of everybody on the card, Chris Keane and Callum Johnson still have the possibility of passing that ceiling. Keane in particular will go a long way towards showing whether he can before this is over.

Looks even worse seeing he won his first 5 and nothing since.

Sorry, I'm going to answer lazily by quoting from another conversation. (in Kirk's league, as it happens)
