Had Salvador Sanchez Lived?

Drew, that's a very good post. I would pick Sanchez to win but think Pedroza was a great fighter and it would be a very close fight. Are you saying that Pedroza was a better defensive fighter than Sanchez? I don't think it's an outlandish or ridiculous statement, I'd just don't recall ever hearing that before.

 

I tend to agree with him.

Sanchez got hit quite a lot at times and often had a take one punch to get in two counters kind of mentality, no doubt extremely confident in his chin.

Pedroza was cagier and gave less away.

 

Salvador probably would have met up with Alexis, and lose a clearcut decision.As great as he was, he had his limits, which was probably part of the reason he never met up with Eusebio Pedroza.

 

Arguello had a close fight with Jose Luis Ramirez so I wouldn't count out Sanchez.

 

Havn't read any of the posts and doesn't really contribute to the thread but Sanchez was going to retire shortly anyways I don't think he'd have much more significant contribution to his record or legacy.

 

I think he wouldve beaten Azumah Nelson in a rematch by decision. Then beaten Pedroza by decision and KOd Gomez if he wanted a rematch.

Sanchez was a great fighter. Not too many weaknesses.

 

He did say that but it would have been hard for him to walk away at the top of his game. It would have been uncommon. He was such a great warrior. When figters say that their gonna retire in their early to mid 20s I take it with a grain of salt.

 

Honestly, I don't know how Arguello-Sanchez would have gone.
I'm more inclined to say Arguello because Sanchez would be very small. However, Sanchez was more skilled, a better fighter than anyone Arguello faced.

 

I wouldn't totally count him out, but lightweight is another thing, and no one knows how the added weight would affect him.
