Boxing Expert Dan Rafael "Floyd beats Kosta Tyszu pretty easily"

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by El Chicano, May 31, 2013.

  1. I know everybody loves to go to the Phillips fight and ignore how he got better, unified all three belts and then sat as champ for eight years untouched after that fight, plus Mayweather had a tough fight with Judah, and Tszyu knocked out Judah in 2, if we use your analogy against you

Because Tszyu had a level of timing, precision, and one punch power that made him ideal for picking off faster fighters. Floyd has the ability to win of course, but he's going to take damage doing it if he does. Out of the 140 fighters that've fought there in the last decade, Tszyu's the one Floyd matches up the worst with.

That simply is not true, the fight was scheduled for November 2005 if Tszyu had won against Hatton. It's interesting to note that Mayweather had a lot of respect for Tszyu and never bad mouthed him once in any interview. It would've been a great fight and a prime Tszyu causes Floyd grief. A 2005 Tszyu loses a decision to Floyd, but a 1999-2001 Tszyu might just win! Tszyu was precision like, had power and superb ring man ship, his ability to cut off the ring and stalk his opponent was exceptional. Tszyu didn't waste his energy, when he threw a punch it was done so to land everytime. Mayweather would've needed all of his guile to avoid those big shots. I believe Mayweather is the best defensive fighter i have ever seen, he would've come up with something, but he wouldn't have wanted to get hit flush by a Tszyu right hand.

You don't need to be a so called expert to know that Floyd wins this quite comfortably. He's a class or two above Tszyu who although a good fighter is vastly overrated on here by some.

How did he become "recognized champion" immediately after he lost to Phillips? He didn't even win a legit belt until two years later in '99.

I doubt it. Kostya was a very, very hard hitter, intelligent, always in great shape with quality stamina and iron chin. I would have loved to see him fight Mayweather and I think it would be a 60-40 fight

Kosta is worthy of Hall of Fame IMO.

I really think Floyd would have won a 118-110 type of decision.

Remember when this fight was possible, Kostya was already very inactive and on his way out right when Floyd moved up to 140. He lost to Hatton right after Floyd beat Gatti at 140.
