Fury pulls out of Pulev purse bid

Nah, can't be having that. There is no evidence to support this, and out boxing an offensively deficient guy like Johnson doesn't prove much in the grand scheme of things.

I actually think the opposite - that Haye hadn't considered a fight with Fury because it meant little. Listen to what he says at to Dereck at the Vitali - Chisora press conference - 'you lost to Tyson Fury'. At that moment in time he viewed the pair of them as beneath him. Having realised he wasn't going to be able get in the ring with Vitali he has clearly changed tact - I just can't envisage him ever having feared Tyson. No way.

 

Except that beating Pulev would mean having to go through Wlad. Should he achieve the unthinkable and overcome Haye, he'd have a far better chance at winning a world title.

I don't particularly like the guy, but there's no way you can accuse him of ducking Pulev.

And hell there is even no Haye fight signed! Why are you talking about Haye!
If Fury thinks he is good enough for Pulev why should he not fight him and after that Wladimir? ESPECIALLY after talking all his crap?

In Hayes last 3 fights at heavy he's weighed in at 210. Same as Cunningham did when he fought Fury.

Perhaps the Fury camp beleive that Tyson will be able to push Haye around the same way he did in the later stages of the fight against Cunningham

Cunningham was actually the perfect warm up figtht for Haye.

Exactly the same height, exactly the same weight, exactly the same physique - both very fast.

Haye ducked Cunningham at CW when he 'unified' the division.

Fury will need to be at his very best to beat Haye. But IF the fight goes past 5 rounds I would fancy Fury to win by stoppage.

It would be awesome if Fury did beat Haye, but realistically.....

He'd be stretched inside three minutes.

He's wide open to wild right hooks, which of course are Haye's speciality these days.

 

If the Haye fight happens, wich is by no means certain of course, it looks like he choses the very high risk / very high reward fight above the high risk / mediocre reward option.

I favor both Haye and Pulev (both favorites with the bookies too) over Fury and so do most people here. Only a Pulev loss (certainly by stoppage) would trow him back much more as losing to Haye who's a much bigger favorite over him as Pulev is and much more proven.
He can come back from both losses, but much sooner and easier from a Haye loss and for a much, much larger payday too.

So in the end, fighting Haye is the smart thing to do... if you gotta go under, go with a bang! And think about what happens if he somehow beats David.
The hype would be out of control.

 

Because a fight against Haye would more than likely double as a WBC eliminator for the right to fight Vitali - the winner would probably only find themselves one shot away from fighting for the WBC title.

 

Being a mandatory challenger for a world title fight is a mediocre reward?

 

They are ranked 6th (Fury) and 7th respectively by the WBC.
