Froch "I'll fight Ward in Vegas"

Discussion in 'British Boxing Forum' started by Wig, Jun 1, 2013.

  1. A hollow victory would be saying "Yeah, i was the best, but i never made the money because i was reluctant to travel"

Ward beat Froch, fair enough, but Carl has done everything possible to warrant a rematch and Ward is the one who seems not to fancy it all that much even though he won comfortably the first time.

If a guy comes to your backyard and you win and there's a demand for a rematch, its only right that you go to his backyard particularly if that's where the money is. Froch seems to want the fight anywhere but Oakland and Ward seems to want it nowhere but Oakland.

Ward may have beat him but i have far more respect for Froch for his willingness to travel into the lions then time and again, it shows real character and belief in ones self, Ward isn't showing those things.

One fight doesn't necessarily show who's better (Unless its an absolute hammering) especially if one guy has an advantage of fighting in his backyard.

They would'nt be able to do a "Watch with Froch" programme though, as it would put all the casuals off the fight!

1 - has Matchroom made an offer to Ward?
2 - has he actually said he wouldn't come to the UK?
3 - who is the fighter who has actually said he doesn't think it would make a good fight, as if that's a reason to not make it?
4 - the original match was hardly competitive and, if anything, Froch got the benefit of every doubt on the cards

    :huh

What's that got to do with anything? If Froch and co have made a fair offer to bring over "the man" at 168, then fair enough. But it's all just supposition as usual.

Yeah, last I checked what you earn doesn't give you a pass for avoiding good fights.

Ward's quality is not in question, but it's going to be interesting to see how this pans out bewteen HBO, Ward and fighting in Oakland. Economically that model doesn't fit for a top 3 p4p fighter who should be a ppv name by now over there.

In fairness, he only became a champion in the last what, four years? He's not got a massive ethnic fanbase or a country that happens to be rabid about boxing behind him like Alvarez.

There also aren't any major stars in or around his weight class. HBO and its president of sports clearly wants to keep Ward on the network. The investment in Froch-Kessler was possibly about setting up a future fight.

Froch wouldn't need HBO's money, of course, but if he wants it, it's not like they'll pay for Froch versus many others.

Froch v Ward in Vegas is a **** fight.
HBO really struggling to find a decent fight for Ward. Unfortunately we have to suffer him behind the mike as they feel obliged to use him as a commentator until he gets back in the ring.

Exactly. So Ward turning down a ready made big unification with Bute just because he couldn't keep it in California when US tv would've made it more than worth his while was bonkers. Well it wasn't really if you know Ward but that's another story. They all knew Bute was ripe for the plucking and that should've been a great reward for Ward after winning the Super Six. As of right now he's coming off the back of getting injured after intending to fight Pavlik in Oakland. And that was some time ago now.

I don't understand people moaning about ward coming over here, frochs been there so wouldnt the other man come here, common decency if you ask me .
May just be the sporting englishman inme!
I can understand ward not wanting to come over here, anyone who has boxed knows what it it like to fight at home, it gives you a buz, it does lift you up a notch or 2 eithout a doubt, ward will not want froch to have that advantage, ward does not like any man having any advantage over him:deal

Oh and anobolic lion shut up you twat

Would prefer to see Froch fight Hopkins, fighting Ward again will result in the same outcome.
