Anderson Silva wants to fight Roy Jones Jr "much, much more" then UFC peers

He's been saying this for years. Has Roy Jones ever replied?

 

RJJ should win if he somehow hasn't declined a lot more from his last fight but why not could be a fun fight. RJJ has no reflexes left, no chin, his feet move like he's in quicksand, he lost a lot of his balance and even his power which is the last thing to go doesn't seem to be there anymore. Jones should win and still has above average handspeed (if he hasn't lost that as well) but I doubt he would stop Silva who has a granite chin. It could be a fun fight and better Jones fights Silva than someone like Lebedev

Make it a half-way fight where they're allowed strikes only like k1 format. The wrestling and submission stuff is boring anyway.

 

I think the first fight should be in boxing. Silva is calling out Roy, he's closer to his prime then Roy, so I think it would make the most sense and be the most competitive for the first fight to be boxing.

After the first fight, then they could do a second fight with some MMA rules, like a kick boxing match, or a match with kicks and takedowns but no submissions. Even a trilogy would be cool, like first one boxing, second one kickboxing in a ring, and the third modfied MMA rules in a cage. (best two out of three lets say, that would be interesting) I'm not sure Roy would want to fight MMA or even kick boxing, but I think he'd definetly consider a boxing match with Silva.

In a kickboxing match Silva would use his long legs to batter Roy's legs. I think Silva would consider a boxing match because he has fast hands too, and I think a boxing match would be the most entertaining and the most competitive. I think Roy (even a faded Roy at this point in his career) would be a slight favorite in a 12 round boxing match simply because he's a boxer and still has a great ring IQ. In a kickboxing match or modified MMA rules Silva is obviously the clear favorite.

Does anyone else laugh to themselves when Rogan and Goldie ALWAYS crap on that Fabio Maldonado the average/low level UFC fighter was a pro boxer with a record of 22-0 with 21 ko's etc. LOL has anyone actually looked at who he actually fought in those boxing bouts. As a genuine boxing/mma fan it pisses me off when they talk absolute nonsense which the dumb casual fans lap up. Surely someone like Rogan who does know his boxing must cringe when he says such nonsense making out as though Maldonado was some killer in the sport of boxing.

Unless I missed something you people need to learn how to read better for all the dummies saying that Silva is calling him out.

He's saying that he would love to compete with Jones because he idolized him just like many kids would like to play basketball with M.J. or baseball with... whoever is good at baseball and whatever other sports. But because it's a combat sport people get their collective panties in a bunch over what really is a compliment.

I don't think it has anything to do with boxing, but rather that he is in awe of RJJ. RJJ is long past his best, so it has nothing to do with trying to achieve something notable in boxing.

RJJ is very much like Ali or Tyson for this generation of fighters. They both fear him and are in awe of him. When you watch most fighters, you know that what they do can be accomplished with training. When you watch RJJ, you know that you can have technique but without a bucket load of talent, and then some, what he can do will be nothing but a dream for you...

Silva's a complete wanker who would have hid under his bed rather than challenge RJJ to a boxing match when Roy was in his prime.

Come to think of it, why RJJ who has been finished for years? Why not a current cruiserweight or lightheavyweight champ?

Anderson, if you really want to impress us fans, call out the Jones who is in his prime, fights in your sport and is champ in the weight class above you!! A weight class Silva has fought in, against an ex-champ!!

Silva fought Griffin at LH, Silva talked about moving up to LH, then along came Jon Jones and suddenly Silva is befriending Bones and wont fight him because they are friends!!

But if he is saying that he would love to compete with Jones but isn't calling him out, then why did Silva not say something along the lines of "I would have loved to have shared a ring with my idol RJJ when he was in his prime. I would have been ko'd in one round, but it would have still been an honour"!!

I'm pretty sure I read that Silva did say that he would love to compete with Jones in a boxing match after he retired from mma!!

I'm sure people think I'm disrespecting MJ with my desire to play a game of basketball with him.

I could walk up to Marcelo Garcia and say to his face that I'd love to roll with him or compete in a BJJ match against him. Besides maybe laughing on the inside and perhaps politely declining he wouldn't for an instant take it as a sign of disrespect.

You have no good reason whatsoever to think Silva is being even remotely disrespectful.

 

There's probbly more money in boxing Roy Jones in 2013/14 than there is in any MMA fight for Silva.
I'm not the biggest MMA fallower, but from what I have seen of Silva, I think he would have been a pretty good boxer.

 

Chael was able to tag Silva at will in their first fight and wobble him, a shot Roy would toy with him.

 

Some real ******s in this thread unable to comprehend Silva answering questions about a guy he respects in another sport.
