Moorer get's so much flack for the Foreman loss, alot of people forget how much of a skilled southpaw he was even if a hard person to work with. 90's Heavyweights were tough as ****. :deal
Great Fight two bangers with not so great chins going all out, Smokin Bert always brought the heat, His fights with Holyfield and Mercer are another two great fights as for Double M as good as he was at Heavyweight he was better at light Heavyweight and could have dominated that division for years but he chose to chase the big money instead and went up to Heavyweight were he managed to win a title and beat an ATG in Evander Holyfield.
Yeah, this was one of the best fights of the 90s - and indeed reminiscent of Foreman-Lyle. I honestly thought Moorer was done several times.
It was pretty shaky, but he had a lot of heart - otherwise he would have been starched quickly here. Sometimes glass chinned fighters make up for this weakness with other qualities. In Moorer's case, it was heart, balls, whatever you want to call it. Floyd Patterson is another example of this. As Floyd said, he went down a lot, but he got up alot too.:yep
Amazing fight, three favorite cooper fights Holyfield vs Cooper, Moorer vs Cooper and Mercer vs Cooper
Love this fight, especially the final punches; a beautiful lead uppercut-cross combination landed bang on the chen. Incidentally, Moorer also had an entertaining fight with Alex Stewart that's worth checking out if you haven't seen it before. awesome fight. I likee more cooper vs holyfield thou. Those were wicked shots they were landing on each other.
Alex Stewart was a ****ing beast I remember the Holyfield vs Stewart fight the first one Alex came in with 24 wins 0 losses 24 knock outs and he had Evander reeling in that fight Holyfield came back and stopped him but damn I was on the edge of my seat watching that ****...
Fantastic fight. Cooper may not have amounted to all that much ultimately, but he sure gave some big names a hell of a scare.
Moorer had some heart getting up from that. He looked like Bert had slept his ass, and then he picked himself up and knocked Bert out. Bert Cooper was known for these type of wars, he had one with Holyfield aswell.
1 Question & 1 Statement... 1: How good was Michael Moorer at LHW? I think he could have been an ATG at LHW. 2 Looking at these fights reminds me exactly how **** HW boxing is these days. PS He might be chinny but I want to see Deontay Wilder's next fight as he seems to lay it out there which is just the way I like my HW boxing. There just isn't enough kill or be killed HW fights any more :-(
Cooper was a real nearly man, has a few solid wins on his sheet and usually gave people a stern test. Is still active at 48 :huh
