How do you rate Ali, then? Could he compete with these scary animals?

    Lennox Lewis via TKO.

    Seriously.

He's bigger, Faster, Stronger, probably more agile and the better boxer than Sonny Liston.

Get the **** out of here, the only reason why rahman is even relevant is because he knocked out Lewis with one punch.

Hes not knocking out Liston, Ali, Frazier, Foreman or Holmes.

    The mercer fight proves otherwise.

liston had the greatest reach of all the great champions. he was the only guy who could push foreman back during a spar match. lennox lewis would get stumped and made fun of.

Many have brought up the Mercer fight as a comparison on how Lewis would struggle with Liston. But that Lewis was a fighter in transition in that fight, he was not yet the fighter who would go on become undisputed heavyweight champion.

Lewis post 97 never threw 4-5 combinations, worked the body, threw as many left hooks or whipped monster uppercuts from so far out like he did in the Mercer fight. Peak Lewis was more defensive minded, tied his opponent up more rather than traded and only threw the upper cut in close. Also the fight against Mercer was in a tiny 18 foot ring which massively favoured Mercer as it gave Lewis less room to move as soon as Lewis backed up a couple of steps his back was against the ropes.

But I have always thought Liston would give even peak Lewis problems. His jab, his durability, his power, all attributes that will result in a tough night work for Lennox. Lewis wins in a very tough fight and stops Liston in about 8 rounds. I think Liston is a little to slow to get to Lewis and a fully focused Lewis will bully the smaller Liston inside which Liston would not be used to.

Lennox would destroy Liston from the outside while Liston lands NOTHING.

Who said Liston was better than either Oliver McCall or Hasim Rahman? Little kids like you people who don't anything about boxing but you heard right? Rahman actually beat bigger fighters. He fought true Heavyweights. Who did Liston fight? For the most part 180 pound fighters. Wow Liston's jab could back up fighters who were 30 pounds smaller than him? Wow lets give him a cookie now (Don't give me that crap about Foreman saying his jab backed him up. Foreman is one of the biggest liars I have heard of in sports).

Lewis jab was good enough to back up modern sized heavyweight and his power was good enough to knockout modern size heavyweights. I don't see how any sane people could or would pick Liston. Sadly most of you people aren't sane though.
