...rehydrated to 170, is that still considered drained? Simple question

depends on how he looks. Some dumbasses like Onepunchko will say he's drained regardless unless he wins.

Remember Dawson rehydrated 17 pounds when he fought Ward, but was still too hindered by the weight cut

Dawsons was hindered because he was fighting a better man

How he looks meaning visually or how he looks meaning how he performs

Canelo is only 22, but the body wears down from constant weight making, i mean, he usually rehydrates to around 170 fight night from 154 at the weigh-in and it already seems to give him stamina issues, but if he was willing to drop to 152, he must feel that it won't be that big of an issue

i guess it depends on the fighter, Dawson looked terrible at the weigh-in vs Ward and it showed on fight night

Canelo can come in at 154 -- he has negotiated a penalty (purse reduction) for every pound he's over the agreed 152. If he is willing to give up a few million to come in at 154 and he thinks that's better for him, he can choose to take the pay cut.

Worth noting that he didn't look too drained by coming in at 153 for his last fight. That next 16 ounces shouldn't cripple him -- and the fight is not until September, so he has plenty of time to take the weight off gradually.

Yes Ward had a lot to do with it, but the weight cut weakened his legs and punch resistance a lot. The shot that knocked him down originally wouldn't have done that at 175.

Dawson took much heavier punches here and was able to recover much quicker and his legs were much fresher

How he performs, but I'm not basing it based off how well he does. I'm basing it on if he has the tell signs there of a drained fighter like Erik Morales in the second Pacquiao fight.

It'll be tougher to tell with Canelo because his stamina was bad last fight, and if it's just as bad against Mayweather, people will say he was drained, when really it was just as good as it was vs Trout.
That's why I think people shouldn't go throwing the idea around unless it's just straight obvious

With Ariza in his camp, he'll take the weight off smart and gradual.

    He'll be just fine

I will complain because the fight is for a 154 lb belt and should be fought at 154.

However, my complaint is more one of principle than substance as 2 lbs is hardly very significant.

I give Floyd props for taking this fight at very close to 154.

It was his toughest possible fight at this time. While I give Canelo a very good chance here, I think Floyd has to be a slight favourite.

On paper, it's his stiffest challenge since Delahoya.

i think its fair. Canelo will be the bigger mán no matter how much they weigh.

not even comparable to the Dawson situation tho..

dude went down a whole division. top that off he's in his 30's while Canelo is 22 yrs old.
it won't effect him. ****, Broner can drain all the way down to lightweight again in his next fight and look like a beast on fight night..

Not surprising considering he dropped an entire weight class. Floyd is asking for two pounds.
