well, seems like most of you lots were Ok with Dawson dropping 7 pounds and after the fight some of you guys put Ward on top of the #1 P4P list? Ward gets prop for fighting a "Drained" Dawson, 7 pounds Drained. yet floyd gets hated because Canelo drops 2 pounds? Jesus... atsch Believe me I or any of you would be bitching if Ward vs Dawson had taken place at 173 right?... :bbb
Well Dawson after the Hopkins victory said"i want Ward and will go to 168 to fight him" and before that he wanted to drop to 168 to fight in the Super 6.....when in the hell has Canelo ever mentioned going back to 147?
who gives a **** what he said? the Fact still stand. 7 pound dropp is Way beyond 2... ask any real Athlete, not Keyboard fighters and Alts... :hey
Canelo can drop 10lbs I don't care but just not to Floyd, a person who has been heavily criticizing other for their catchweight.
well Martinez offered to come down to 150 to fight Pack. yet the Coward wanted none... yet I would still call martinez drained... :bbb
In realty 7lbs isn't that much weight to cut, it's the 20+ pounds these guys are cutting that hurt them. If fighters weren't always trying to have the size advantage by cutting weight to fight in weight classes their too big for we wouldn't have this problem. It's not the 7lbs to fight in 147 that would be the problem, it's walking around at 170+ then cutting 20+ pounds to make 147. If fighters would have some discipline maybe they could walk around closer to their fighting weights so the cut wouldn't be so harsh.
From what I have read, not too many people give Ward full credit for beating Dawson at 168. At 175, it would have been the best win of his career. But at 168, I rank Dawson as his 4-5th best win.
wow,you never cut weight in your life have you,if you walk around at 20 pounds over and cut down to your fighting weight, any thing over that is cutting muscle which will result in you losing strength, speed, power and stamina.it is a huge deal
I spent years wrestling, I have had to cut weight. I've even given up 15lbs because I was in a awkward weight class to make the match. Coaches would see this skinny 112lb kid and agree to make the match, when I won over their bigger kid they didn't like. But yes I agree, I'm jus saying the practice of cutting 20+ pounds is the root of being drained. Just about everyone does it, but not everone does it right or can handle x amout of weight to cut.
Dawson asked for the fight at 168, then at the last moment wanted the fight at a catch weight.. I give Ward full credit for the win, Dawson new what was at steak when he made the challenge. All excuses are null and void.
I barely give ward any credit for that fight. Totally drained. Oscar "offered" to go to 147 look how that turned out
i agree that fighters should not have to cut 20 pounds to make weight thats crazy,if you fight in a weight class you should discipline yourself and maintain that weight year round
