Golovkin was born and brought up in Kazakhstan but I understand he is ethnically Russian. Golovkin seems to identify very strongly with Kazakhstan though. Why is that, given his ethnicity? The Klitschko brothers, for example, don't identify strongly with Kazakhstan, where they were born.

The Klits were simply born in Kazakhstan, nothing more. They were army brats.

    They were raised in Ukraine.

GGG was raised in Kazakhstan...and his mother is actually Korean too as far as Im aware.

You've posted a question purely for Kasakh people?

I'm not sure how many responses you will get.

The Klitschkos' mother is Russian, though, right?

Kazakhstan is quite an ethnically mixed place, lots of Russians came after the second world war in Kazakhstan's industrialization drive. Resource rich north of Kazakhstan to this day is majority ethnic Russian and I would say more than 90% of Kazakhstan's entire population have their first language as Russian. There are lots of ethnic Koreans in Kazakhstan also, but I don't know the history behind that - I know that the country's number two politician behind the president is an ethnic Korean.

It was so obvious he wasn't a white boy. Maybe now all the stormfront members on here can stop trying to adopt him as their poster boy and stick to the Klitschko's.

Only Wladimir was born in Kazakhstan. Vitali was born in Kirgistan. Their father was always travelling, and so they just happened to be born in those countries.

They identify with Ukraine because they've spent most of their lives there.

As for Golovkin, here in Russia no one knows who he is. He needs to convince Sergio Martinez to grow a pair of balls and fight him, or else Gennady will have to wait a few more years to become famous.
