Get past the babyfat and his sometimes doughboy look.

Check out his fights, the fact that his defense is, at best, average.

He's been stopped once, against an in-shape Odlanier Solis -- and the ref stepped in while he was on his feet and laughing as Solis was unloading everything he had.

Of course the difference in level of opposition is obvious. Too many of Welliver's fights, especially in New Zealand, have been against complete no-hopers, but he has fought some good fighters too, and he's taken whatever they had.

I've watched quite a bit of him and really seen him get hit solid time and again and he just doesn't seem to get hurt -- knocked around a bit, but he takes it and never seems to lose his senses.

And while we're at it, what is his story? He seems to split time between the South Pacific and the Pacific Northwest, has really been all around the world. I'm curious about his management and how they have managed to keep him so busy hopping the globe like that.

But mostly I admit that I am impressed with his chin.

You need resident Chauncy Welliver expert Messer Schmidt here to chime in.

Solis was NOT in shape, he simply was not as much of a whale as Chauncy.

Fortunately, after getting his ass handed to him by Tank Williams and a 4 fight novice, he retired and apparently is training some Chinese no-hoper.....like he has ANY qualifications to train anybody:lol:

He won a fight in Chile less than a week ago. Did he announce his retirement after that?

FWIW, the 5-fight novice had 30-some-odd K1 kickboxing fights before taking up boxing, so that is a little deceiving.

I want to see Welliver's entire fanbase lined up in a parking lot. Very curious to see what these people look like.

No but Ross Purity's never been knocked down streak is probably better than Chuvalo's considering the punchers he's been in with.

Feasting on Z-level competition over an entire career, not taking training and being in shape seriously, and getting your ass kicked by a fat unmotivated Solis, an old Tank Williams and a novice K1 fighter doesn't inspire confidence as a competent trainer.

He's basically following in the footsteps of his no-hoper of a trainer Joe Hipp.
