what is incriminating about that article? i don't see anything wrong what so ever. Joe saying that Jones was the right move at that time was true. so no, you don't get to **** on my chips. the last thing an idiot like yourself will be doing, is that. :yep special? anyone is special compared to you. not my fault, or anyone else's, that you're stupid. i've already made it clear why Joe fought Jones instead of Pavlik. but lets say for arguments reason, that Pavlik had beaten Hopkins like people were claiming at the time, and Pavlik was willing to fight at 175 (Joe wasn't going to back down in weight) but Joe refused and then retired? then you'd have an argument. but that never happened did it? i look at everything from all angles before i make a judgement. not like you who's desperate to slag a fighter off because you're bitter and full of bias only looking at it from one side of the coin. that's easy to spot in posters on here. you fall into that bracket. and no, Joe wouldn't have got any respect for beating a Middleweight at the higher weight. just look at how many people slag off the Lacy win. :deal
You seem to be missing the point. In 2007, Joe said he wasn't interested in Roy because he was shot. Then early in 2008, he said the exact same thing, and also said that he'd be disappointed if Roy was to be his last fight. Also it wouldn't have made any difference if Pavlik had have beaten Hopkins. Because he'd already signed to fight Roy then, and he knew it was going to be his last fight. Now there would have been nothing wrong with saying "The opportunity to fight Roy came up, and it was hard to turn down." People would have respected that. But he said Roy was shot and a fight would be pointless, only to fight him, and then retire by saying there was nobody left to fight. Joe fully deserves the criticism that he gets.
1. You're a fantastic poster mate 2. You're welcome 2. You're damn lucky Bailey aint around to kick your ass yet again :hat
I read a while back that Roy was singing in Joe's ear part of the rap song he wrote but changed it to 46-0. Do you know if there is any truth to that? I think Roy knew he was done after about round 7 and just wanted to hang on.. Early in the fight he was gun-shy too when he could have let it all hang out a bit more.. I think Roy was worried about Joe's pace, and being able to last with him. I think Roy was trying to negotiate for a re-match as well no matter who won.. To me that seems like he was trying to milk his last time in the big show as much as possible. Shame it didn't happen 2002ish, I think it would have been a much better fight. For the fighters, the sport, the fans, everything.
Sure im serious. You rarely insult anyone, and always put forward a good, well thought out and presented arguement Miss him too mate. Here's hoping :thumbsup
I actually heard through the grape vine, that Bailey was putting together the thread of all threads that would blow all of our minds..:rofl I hope he is back soon too.:yep
no, i haven't heard that one before. but i have heard the track though. it wouldn't surprise me if it happened. yeah, Joe had him fully under control at this point. Jones knew how mentally tough he was when he clowned around and mocked him. Joe had his hands down and putting his face right up to Jones' gloves and asking him to hit him. you could see that deflated Roy a bit. i won't disagree about Jones being a bit gun shy, but it wasn't to the extent of the Johnson and 3rd Tarver fight. Jones did let his hands go a bit, but yeah, he was worried about Joe catching him on the counter. when you see the confidence of your opponent right in front of you, it's not exactly going to make you feel good. Jones gave it a good shot, but he didn't have the needed quality at that point to make it competitive. i do know about the rematch. Joe beat him easily so it made no sense really. Jones would have loved to have gotten another big pay check as you say. :yep i mean, who wouldn't? it is a shame we never got the fight back then, it would have been great. i know you would have went for Jones, but i was really sure of myself that Joe would have got the win. and by stoppage. i know you'll disagree but, Jones wasn't knocking Joe out. what we did get was better than nothing i suppose. just seeing the two of them in there was something i'd wanted for a long time. it is what it is.
Joe was mentally tough for clowning a guy who was nearly 40, who he WOULDN'T have fought at his peak? atsch How could Joe have stopped a prime version of Roy? He tried to pull out of the Lacy fight at the last minute.
I've never seen a fighter make anyone his fish more than Joe did Jones that night. He would continuously press his head up to Jones guard. Prison ****.
People go on about the Jones and Hopkins knockdowns but neglect to mention Joe was 38 and just moved up in weight ...... Jones - calzaghe should have fought in 2003 before Jones moved up and he foutght Hopkins at the perfect tome, Joe was on his way out post kessler
Calzaghe lost that fight to Hopkins . Pretty much the main reason why no one gives him credit for that "win"
