Kamegai is endearingly goofy sometimes with his mannerisms

First time I've seen the Jap, he has lost all 5 round so far so it's disappointing. I like to see Asian fighter do well.

Kamegai is a big disappointment so far. I wouldn't call him a hype job because he hasn't really been hyped but I know a few hardcores was keen on him.

I'm hoping Yoshi lands a shot like he did on Ukrid Sarasas on Perez (it's worth youtubing!)

 To be honest I had to do a double take. Thought you'd started the Juan Manuel Lopez v Mikey Garcia a week early to give it a chance of getting in the top round by round threads since the mass exodus.

    Round 6

Kamegai is trying to brush his fists against the sides of Perez's body, nudging him toward the ropes. Perez counters with the left hook and wriggles free. Kamegai walks into a few more counters and casts a furtive, pleading glance to his corner - seeking advice, perhaps? Right hand by Kamegai, finally connecting with some regularity...meaning greater than once per minute. Another big right hand by Kamegai. Perez ducks back and leaves a left hook out in Kamegai's path, slowing him a bit.

    10-9 Perez, but closer.

    60-54 Perez

Kamegai has landed some good shots, but Perez has taken them pretty well. Not a good sign for him.

He may need a leprechaun to crawl up his ass to win this fight.

I wonder how many people don't realize that Josesito is a nickname?

I'd think most boxing fans, whether you had any prior familiarity with the Spanish language (elective course in high school...maybe a Latina girlfriend sometime...or having worked in the restaurant industry, or another that would require bilingualism) would come to have some understanding of the rudimentary elements of it.

Like the fact that any name with the suffix "-ito/-sito" tacked on at the end is basically a diminutive affectionate informal pet name, rendering it "Little So-and-so". (in this case, "Josesito" = "Little Jose")

    Round 7

Kamegai is following and thrusting out both fists in earnest, but getting hit with left hooks buried into his right ear - one looking to have perhaps busted his eardrum as his equilibrium was momentarily quite shaken, but he seemed to recover. Jabs and rights by Perez while gliding around in between lean-ins.

    10-9 Perez

    70-63 Perez

    Round 8

Kamegai is softly paddling the sides of Perez's body. Perez backs out of the pocket, splays his legs, and turns over hooks into Kamegai's chest.
Kamegai is throwing right hand leads and actually tricks Perez with a jab feint, but only glances with the scoring right it buys him. 1-2 by Perez to stop Kamegai in his tracks before creating distance. Kamegai moves in and chops at Perez's head. Flush jab on the eye socket by Perez. Left hook to the front of the trunks by Kamegai. Perez trots out of a corner to escape, making Kamegai spin in place.

    10-9 Perez

    80-72 Perez
