floyd looked better against hatton because hatton at his best was not as good as a faded oscar. i dont think a prime oscar would blow mayweather away, but i do think he would beat him comfortably. watch oscar when he would fight on his toes for 12 rds, thats the guy that floyd wouldnt be able to keep off him.

Floyd looked better against Hatton because Floyd looked better against Hatton. Yes, Hatton had a shorter reach and that made Floyd look better. Yes Cortez worked up a sweat and broke every clinch immediately and didn't let Hatton work. But Floyd also looked better. He was in better shape physically and mentally. Some of that had to do with fighting Hatton, but FMJ clearly was an improved fighter in December 2007 then he was in May 2007. And it was probably because of all that pressure that came with fighting an icon like DLH. And by the way, that was hardly the best version of Hatton. As I've said before, Hatton was much better at light welterweight then he was at welter. He barely beat Collazo at welter.

Agree about DLH's footwork. The Prime Oscar who was able to fight on his toes and dance around the ring for 12 rounds would give any versions of FMJ fits, no doubt about it.

 

it would be aesier for me to prove that hatton was an inferior fighter to oscar, then it would be for you to prove that floyd looked better against hatton because he wasnt himself against oscar.

I think the Oscar that beat Vargas would of probably beat Floyd. I am also a Mayweather fan and think he is the number 1 fighter in the world currently. But it is hard to pick against floyd because he always finds a way to win.
