Nonsense mate he's the best LW in the world at present but you don't think he's world class WRONG:nono
Ricky will become Scotland's best fight if he already isn't,mate a world title fights 12 rounds not 7, what excuse can you give Gonzalez then?We both. Seen him 40 mins after the fight no ice, bandage or bruising on his wrist so you tell me what was wrong

Well I hope so time will tell David,he needs to fight some decent opposition then fight one of the domestic champs which at present are very good, however I think he could give Walsh a argument but getting that fight easy said than done, unless Walsh gives title up and Tommy works his wonders with the commonwealth and gets Ronnie a vacant title shot.

AAA v Harrison only one winner for me Harrison think it would have been similar to AAA fight with Gomez.
Arthur technically very good but in a war of attrition v either Harrison back in the day or Burns in their prime he comes up short for me.
Don't really understand all the criticism of Burns last performance I said on another thread yes Burns was well behind after 7.But Gonzales had punched himself out Burns had taken his best & was coming on strong in the CHAMPIONSHIP rounds where these type of fights are won & lost.He is a worthy world champion for anyone to say he isn't a world level operator puzzles me.

I admire your positive opinion of your fighter but do you really think he's better than Buchannan

He's a good boxer he might win more title fights than Ken but he's not the better boxer imo although my opinion is based on watching Buchannan on video

Ken Buchanan fought and beat great fighters not just world class fighters, he's fought and beat all time greats/hall of famers and is a hall of famer himself, Ricky needs to fight and beat far better quality than what he has to be mentioned in the same breath as Buchanan. Prime Ken would've gave guys like Gonzalez a pizza face. Technical ability wise Ken is easily top 5 greatest the UK has ever produced.

I think your wrong in saying Ricky isn't world class, he is, but he's yet to show his worth at the top, top level. I have faith in the Rickster.

Ken fought far better quality boxers than Ricky has so far, Ken's an all time great lightweight, he fought in one of lightweights best era's beating guys like Laguna and Ortiz etc away from home. He also went 13 rounds with Duran, one of the greatest fighters of any weight of all time. Duran and his manager have both said Buchanan was the best boxer they faced when Duran fought at the lower weights. In Buchanan's prime he won 'american sports writers boxer of the year' when Ali was around, Ali even fought on a Buchanan undercard. Will Burns ever receive or acheive such accolades? I personally seriously doubt it.

Ken was an exceptional boxer nobody could ever argue the point,he had 4 world title fights against top drawerguyswhati could never understand was why didn't he ever get a title shot again after Duran?
I just think with Ricky already winning world titles at two weights and still improving he will surpass Ken's achievements,of coarse that my opinion and mine only, remember I think Ricky will win a world title at LWW and when he does I think there will be little doubt then

Durans manager went on record saying that the Buchanan rematch was too high risk, saying Buchanan was ''a formidable foe'' Duran was imo just too strong for Ken to beat tho. Ken wasn't just a great boxer he was seriously tough and had a great chin, but Duran was just an unstoppable force at that weight.

Nowadays respect is built on who you fight rather than how many world titles a fighter wins. Get Ricky in the big fights and you may be right, Billy. I hope so :good

Plus Buchannan wouldn't have ducked Broner:yep (just kidding)
It will be hard to win a world title at 140 but if he does his legacy will be cemented in UK boxing history

Enjoyed that conversation between you and Billy,Rossco. For what its worth,Im with you.I can't think of a better British boxer than Buchanan. He is for me an ATG.If Duran hadn't been around he would have been even more successful.Khans a bit like him inasmuch as he boxes abroad and dodges nobody, but the similarity ends there. But today belongs to Ricky.A fighting champion,a bit like Jim Watt in a way.More to come.

A bit before my time but why didn't Ken get another shot at one of the champions after Duran?
