    Not intentionally, but because;

    1) He was the first person to knock him out. He ruined his confidence, reputation and took his heart.

    2) He made him come down and fight at 168 and we all know how weight affects a fighter when they're going back to fight at their original weight class.

It's a shame because Dawson was a talented fighter. He didn't do himself any favours by consistently switching trainers, but I don't think he will ever be the same again.

I think Dawson was ruined before Ward even got his hands on him. Mentally, he's quite fragile, and I think every negative incident he's experienced -- Pascal, Ward, changing trainers, etc -- has chopped away at him. It's been a gradual decline. Not an overnight one.

    how is it a shame?

he didn't have to fight ward. that was his choice

also there can only be 1 winner, and it was ward, simply because he's a better fighter

    no shame about it

Ward didn't make Dawson do anything, Dawson voluntarily went down to 168

I think many overated Dawson long before he fought Ward, consider his best win was over a fighter in his late 40s and had made most of his name fighting fighters over a decade older than him. Dont say Adamek, as he wasnt that good at LHW and when Dawson fought Pascal, we saw how it happened.
I predicted Pascal would win that one

Yeah that's why I said unintentionally, maybe indirectly is the correct term here.

Dawson was an extremely talented fighter who many thought would be the next P4P champ (mayweathers). Bhop avoided him for years until the money was right. Switching trainers did not help him over the years but yeah I think Ward did take his soul. Also, getting beat up like that can do some major damage to his punch resistance on top of everything the TS mentioned. Taking a fight against a fighter that is as heavy handed as Stevenson was the second big blunder by his team. He needed to have a soft touch as a return match. The only "fans" who do not see how great Dawson was are straight up haters or those who worship another fighter and try to diminish his abilities because their hero retired rather than fight him.

    Hint:

    Fail !!!

Dawson Ruined his own career, with his lack of respect for opponents and his premadonna attitude. After his win over Adamek, chad started acting like his **** didn't stink, and he really developed a unhealthy disrespect for his opponents, and you could see that he really didn't respect Stephenson's power the way he tried to jump right on top of him in the first round.

Chad needs to change his attitude, history has shown that fighter that change trainer as much as he does have little success in boxing.

Beating Bhop convincingly was a tremendous start of a run. He could've beaten Pascal in a rematch. He was on his way to cleaning out 175. He should've done that first before challenging Ward who might've fought him at 175 which would've given Chad a better chance at winning. Still, not a bad resume.

    these 2 points .

Dawson's biggest mistake was that he had to drain himself @ 168 to fight Ward. He should've said: 175 or nothing !
