Slappy Joe Calzaghe better than Marvin Hagler ??? .... C'mon get real this has got to be a joke thread. In the unforgotten words of Larry Holmes " Calzaghe isn't fit to carry Hagler's jockstrap"
The two most deluded fans are those of Calzaghe & Floyd Mayweather jr. Both lacked the cojones to be a real Champion & P4P fighter

Sorry to burst your5 bubble Mr Saxon but in my opinion the idiot here is YOU!!! Calzaghe did NOT legitimately beat Hopkins . Slappy was handed a gift decision. No one knew that more than Slappy himself hence his refusal to rematch Hopkins at home in Wales as his devoted fans wanted. Instead he RETIRED to dump his long time G/F, chase ho's in nightclubs, inspire accusations of cocaine abuse & go hunting & killing innocent little rabbits. Calzaghe an ATG ??? ROFLMAO ATG's done run away:patsch

no, what i forgot to do was put a capital A, then put spaces between the words.

i'd been on the site as a reader for a couple of years before i signed up to post and had seen that most put their username without spaces. i did the same without realising that it looked like Assassin with a missing S.

the reason for the name is due to it being uttered by an American christian woman on a documentary. it popped into my head when i signed up.

nothing wrong with my spelling. i don't use capitals at the beginning of sentences due to being a bit lazy. i'm usually listening to music on another tab, so i'm back and forth all the time. it's just to save a bit of time.

so you can't answer the questions? i think it's quite clearly you that is the ******, SLYK. :nut

The bolded/underlined part pretty much sums up one side of the analysis of what would happen in this fight.

Personally, I think hagler's pressure would eventually catchup to Joe C; I would envision Marvelous pinning him on the ropes, trying to rough him up and attempt to make this a phone booth fight. I don't see him allowing Joe C to dance around the ring, get flurries in a quick sequence than get out of the danger zone before Hagler can react/counter.

Hagler's granite chin combined with the fact that Calzaghe didn't really have immense power in either fist makes me think Hagler would break him down in the latter rounds, almost a war of attrition if you will, and end this fight in a TKO in the late rounds. If it was a 15 round fight, I don't see Joe C making it past the 12th or 13th.

And it's not fair to try to compare Joe C's chin to Haglers. Hagler took on some supreme punchers in his day and none of them could drop him to the canvas. Even Hearns ridiculous right hand couldn't put Hagler down. I've seen Joe Calzaghe get knocked down by very light punches/straight rights/jabs, hell even Hopkins and Jones put him on the canvas early in their fights and neither of those guys had knockout power, especially with them being in the twilights of their career.

On a side note I read someone said Joe C got a decision win "gift wrapped" against Hopkins. Well Bernard is one of my favorite fighters ever, and I actually placed 500.00 for Hopkins to win on that fight and I can say without hesitation that Calzaghe won that fight by at least 2-3 rounds. Bernard's lack of activity throughout the majority of the fight made it veritably impossible for him to win on a decision.

It's very hard to beat Joe C if it goes to the scorecards, his compubox stats always trumps his opponents in a landslide, and that's all due to the fact that his punch output is higher than anybody elses in SMW history. The only way to beat the guy is to Knock him out, unless someone can match his punch output which I don't see happening.

    LOL

Indeed you did my friend. Indeed you did.

I'm glad we've gotten to the bottom of that mystery. Remember it's spelled a-s-s-a-s-s-i-n, just in case you join some forum after admitting your idiocy here.

Calzaghe is a stylistic nightmare for most figbters. Very solid chin and throws more punches than almost anybody. A very good boxer who could make him miss whilst staying active would have some chance. Albeit higher on a atg sense due to calzaghe ducking all comers, Hagler who could not ko SRL would have difficulty winning this fight.
