gamboa and dawson had the potential to make their fight exciting but both were duds last night.

At the end of the day who cares if these billion doller networks lose 12mill. All that counts to me is good fights no matter the nextwork. So far showtime has been out pacing hbo for boxing shows this year. No to long ago showtime didn't give a dam about their sports boxing that much. Now hbo has real competition which will force then to step up their game which is good for everyone.

 

mayweather-guerrero is a boring fight to me and not a good match-up in the first place. maybe that's the reason it didn't live up to expectation (supposed to be a blockbuster ppv fight) and showtime lost millions on that one.

showtime failed to deliver a good fight on that one. poor selection.

 

Yeah. My opinions about this whole HBO v Showtime debate was decided in one night, on one occasion. Who needs to be broad-minded anymore.

HBO. It provides a far classier production, and makes the art of boxing into something more than just 2 guys punching each other.

I think it's great that shotime is making a push to bring us good fight cards. It forces HBO to step their game up or get out the way.

 

Showtime had a dry spell until about Canelo Trout, can't remember any decent fights till. They've been picking it up since. Still the 2 best fights so far on US tv are Rios Alvarado 2 and Bradley Prov (more of a fluke). Both seem to be stepping up their coverage, what with triple headers and SHO Extreme/HBO Latino extras.

 

Well said. This is the perfect time to be a boxing fan. Both networks will surely go toe to toe soon and it's only a matter of time before HBO starts stepping up.

 

Showtime is kicking HBO's ass. They got the who's who in boxing and HBO is relegated to the B class type fighters. It's not even close. All Showtime needs to do now is steal Buffer and HBO will fold their **** up and sit on it.
