ban him for what you fukin cretin, being tiresome? Dumb brit ***. Ts is great for exposing the garbage what british *** fans are trying to feed us. He should be givenvirtual medal or at least hand shake for keeping brit ***s on their places with their over rated pos fighters.

To be fair wasn't it impossible for Calzaghe to fight stiffer competition than hatton at the end of their careers? Wasn't Mayweather and Pac-man top 2 p4p?

    Really?

That's odd, because I remember in 1999, Joe saying "Be honest Roy Jones is a great fighter, and I'm not chasing tough fights. I just want to be well paid."

In 2002 he also said "I think I could give Roy Jones a hard fight, but I know what my CAPABILITIES ARE and I'd want to be paid the crown jewels."

Joe Calzaghe was a nobody to Roy Jones when he was peak.

Roy was the worlds best fighter, fighting at 175.

Joe was an unknown, WBO belt holder from Europe, who fought in a DIFFERENT weight class.

The U.S. fans had only seen him a handful of times against Starie, Thornberry, and McIntyre and he hadn't impressed.

HBO were never going to pay him huge money to fight Roy.

    The fight was never viable.

Joe had a 15 year career, and 11 of those years were spent in a different weight division to Roy.

He was afraid of flying, and made no attempt to move up to 175 or fight in America, until 2008, when Roy was just 9 weeks away from his 40th birthday.

By then, it was too little, too late.

If he'd have genuinely wanted Roy, he'd have moved up to 175 and fought in America, MUCH sooner than he did.

His resume tells you how much he wanted to fight Roy Jones.

He even tried to pull out of the Lacy fight at the last moment, until Frank W intervened and talked him out of it.

He would never have fought a peak version of Roy.

    With regards to DM,

If you've got a spare 5 mins, just go onto the classic forum, go to the bottom of page 4, and you'll see a thread titled - "Any reason why a champ with 23 title defenses, 9yr reign not be considered an ATG?"

Then go to post 58 on page 4.

Unfortunately the video link, and a few of the others have been removed within the last week.

But if you're interested in seeing them, I'll tell you how to find them. :good

indeed, why wheren`t the prime fighters from the US making these fights happen?

hatton got beaten by 2 great fighters, who`s to say he wasnt number 3?

its getting on my tits all the snyde and not so snyde digs at british fighters, FFS all countries have protected boxers, ones who cant box, 1 punch wonders, glass chins etc but to be a great boxer, fighter, warrior you gotta be an american..

i really hope youre actually a minority on here..

theres a good reason why hatton and calzaghe have similarities in their careers - frank war+en!

hatton left him, crossed the pond, and got his defining fights
    so did amir khan

Even though Slappy HIMSELF admitted he wanted no part of RJJ, his fans will insist RJJ ducked him :rofl:rofl:rofl:patsch

There is nothing you can do to convince these ******s that Slappy wasn't god himself. It's absolutely pathetic the way the refer to him as "Sir Joe" and "Super Joe". My god.

i don't think anybody should get credit for beating rjj after he got ko'd by tarver. i do give jc credit for being competitive against hopkins.

Calzaghe threads are pointless, because he never stepped it up.
    It's all 'coulda woulda'...
I wish ESB would just ban JC threads, they are all hypothetical.

so what is the common denominator?
and how come ricky hatton and amir khan got marquee fights while calzaghe didnt?

anyone can 'call out' a great fighter, but to make that fight happen you need a strong international profile and network backing sure doesnt help

calzaghe and DM sat in europe and never got to fight the biggest names of their era because they didnt want the fight, its that simple
