Solid. This card is going to be stacked. Last I saw it also had Garcia/Matthysse listed too.

Edit: see that Garcia/Matthysse is down, Trout vs. TBA is now listed.

They must have offered the Dragon his weight in gold to book a flight to our hemisphere.

Between his purse and Abner's - and of course the headliners - that is already one expensive card.

The Garcia-Matthysse listing on this card should have convinced people not to simply treat Boxrec schedules as equivalent to fight announcements.

Eh, I don't know. Among diehards it'll be a massive boost in his cred.

American TV viewers don't really know who John is.

At least he will cement his p4p status. I can't see him losing that fight for some reason. John had problem with a pressure fighter with bad work rate in Juares and was holding for dear life at the of their first fight. I think that Mares will take him out or shut him down in that fight.

****, you haven't seen John since he fought Rocky Juarez? That was years ago.

In his next few defenses after the Juarez rematch - including a FOTY candidate with Daud Yordan - he looked a little better, yet still exhibited signs of aging. His legs are slower and he is forced to exchange in the pocket more and more as time goes on. This past April he looked to be in for a very tough night with Satoshi Hosono before it was prematurely scuppered by a cut from a headbutt. Based on that almost three rounds of action, I don't think John has enough left to fend off a young tank like Mares.

hahaha I saw the Juarez rematch and then he started hiding in Indonesia. I was not impressed of him in the re-match either and as you said it was long time ago. So I assume he is not getting better haha. I agree with your last statment.

Chris John's last few fights have been pretty exciting. Much more fan friendly than his previous fights in the US.

Dan Rafael of ESPN has said the Boxrec schedule is packed with errors, and this is another example. If for no other reason to doubt this fight, the cut John sustained over his right eye in the Hosono fight was BAD, and with that fight having been on 14 April, no way would it have healed in time for John to go through a full training camp in time for a fight on 14 September.
