...leaving off BoxRec stats. Only what YOU'VE seen.

Does he warrant the lavish praise of oldsters?

Is there anything SRR did better than JC, R?

Going off films there was not one punch which he could not throw, and he was very explosive and devastating with most of the punches he threw, if not all.

    He was a complete fighter.

Floyd would box circle around him. Oh wait, Floyd is even scared of an Asian midget so I'm sure health would come first vs SRR.

The best of his era, arguably the goat but who can know for sure. Looked the complete fighter.

I haven't studied him in depth, but I'm always amazed by how effortlessly he can counter with uppercuts

That's a question you're going to have to ask the Catchweight King Floyd.

what i particularly like in SRR (obviously from the footage i've seen of him) is how light he was on his feet, in my view his footwork was even better than Ali's

The greatest fighter ever. He was the complete fighter too. Speed, power, chin, heart, stamina. Everything. Could fight in different styles. He was so majestic he looked like a dancer.

Above all this, he took on anyone. Went up to LHW when he was barely a big middleweight.

For the record, he'd destroy mayweather. If an old Mosley hurt Mayweather bad how would the faster, taller, smarter, stronger guy with great endurance compare?

He was ok but he was slow, could not throw combinations, had **** footwork and avoided the best at the time.

    Apart from that......he was alright.

I haven't seen enough of him to make a sound judgement. I've mainly just seen highlights and clips. From what I have seen, I must admit that I couldn't understand why so many regard him as the best of all time -- his punches looked quite wide, potentially leaving him open for counters, and he didn't seem to be very polished in terms of jabbing and evasiveness. He mainly seemed like an aggressive combination puncher with fast hands and power, someone trying to land bombs on the opponent. His record speaks for itself, though -- you don't beat that many great fighters without being special. I also need to watch some of his full fights, because clips/highlights are usually just selected to show off a fighter's knockouts rather than their general boxing abilities.

I think head to head he gets killed against the other ATG welters. His punches were amatuerish, he would be punching air all night against floyd.
