Wilder, perhaps a not so cleverly disguised bum, but...

What fight out there should Wilder have to win (or competitive loss even) to get some respect?
What opponent? - Let us leave the world titlists out of this discussion, OK?-

For what ever reason, Boxrec has him rated # 13 heavyweight.

    3 Kubrat Pulev 571 17(9)-0-0
    2009 32 orthodox Sofia, Bulgaria
    4 Tomasz Adamek 568 48(29)-2(1)-0
1999 36 orthodox Jersey City, New Jersey, USA
    5 David Haye 563 26(24)-2(1)-0
2002 32 orthodox Bermondsey, London, United Kingdom
    7 Tyson Fury 551 21(15)-0-0
2008 25 orthodox Wilmslow, Cheshire, United Kingdom
    8 Tony Thompson 494 37(25)-3(2)-0
2000 41 southpaw Washington, District of Columbia, USA
    9 Robert Helenius 433 19(11)-0-0
    2008 29 orthodox Berlin, Germany
    10 Johnathon Banks 420 29(19)-1(1)-1
2004 30 orthodox Detroit, Michigan, USA
    11 Odlanier Solis 420 19(12)-1(1)-0
2007 33 orthodox Miami, Florida, USA
    12 Bermane Stiverne 377 23(20)-1(1)-1
2005 34 orthodox Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

Above are the guys rated above Wilder (per Boxrec). I took out the Klits and Povkin because of their titles. So what if Wilder faced one of these guys to climb up the ratings ladder?

So you'd reconsider Wilder as being a valid contender should he beat Marvis?

When a shot Audley is your best win almost 30 fights into your career, something is wrong.
His management knows that he has a glass jaw, and that it will be shattered when he faces a decent guy with a punch.

Kevin Johnson has been calling him out.

A clear win over a decent gatekeeper like Johnson in a 10 or 12 round fight would be somewhat impressive.

Looks like a tough character judging by a quick look at his record. Went the distance with V. Klit and Tyson "ready to be KO'd" Fury. If Wilder could KO him, that would be quite a feather in his cap. Wilder gets KO'd by Johnson, then not so much.

Chisora would have done it. Horrible style match up for him, and I rate Chisora top 12, so if Wilder won I'd have put him in top 10. Same thing with Johnson, although I rate Johnson about 10 places lower than Chisora. Beating Boystov would move him up less dramatically, borderline top 15. Losing, even respectfully, to anyone but a champ would not increase him in my eyes. I do rate him hovering around #20 currently. Despite his horrible competition, you can't completely ignore that ko streak, other top fighters have failed to ko some of those fighters, and he's done it 28 times now, with a top 40 win on his resume though.

He'll never fight Johnson. Skilled boxer who doesn't get ko'd is a recipe for disaster for Wilder. If he did fight and beat him, it would be very impressive and change my opinion of Wilder

Well, his undefeated all KO record isn't impression anyone, he needs to take the plunge for sure.

Kelvin Price is his best win -- came in undefeated with a win over Tor Hamer, and since has bounced back to beat Danny Williams.

As for Kevin Johnson, that's actually Wilder's most frequent sparring partner. And Johnson has been turned down by Showtime because he doesn't throw punches -- they tried to make that fight earlier in the year.

Wilder needs to fight a top ten fighter, a "REAL" top ten heavyweight, not just one who is given a ranking so he can fool boxing fans. Wilder thinks boxing fans are stupid. I think he will keep on fighting winos from the alley............
