There isn't one way. It depends on the fighter. We've seen Mayweather have trouble with Judah's boxing and countering, and we've also seen him having even more trouble with Castillo's aggression, infighting and body attack. We've also seen how Cotto and Hoya's jabs were able to throw him off at times. If you want to use the Castillo gameplan, you're going to need good stamina, mental strength, the ability to cut off the ring, toughness, strength or size for inside fighting, bodypunching, and the ability to move your head well and/or parry as you come in to attack. Duran is one example of a past fighter who could do this. The Judah approach requires a fighter who has top level handspeed, polished boxing technique and counters on the outside, and evasiveness. You need to improve on that, however, as Judah was beaten down the stretch. You need to add good stamina, ring intelligence/adaptability, and someone who is more comfortable boxing on the back foot than leading. A fighter like Whitaker, for example. You can also try mixing the approaches, like Cotto did. For that, you need to be a very good boxer-puncher with a jab, and you need a higher workrate than Cotto was able to produce. You also need to be able to adapt to Mayweather's shifts in strategy (like how he started using the sweeping right and the uppercut as the rounds went on).

Every time Ricky tried to do his thing Cortez would break them up, Cortez wouldn't even let Ricky get close to Catchweather. How the **** you going to tell Ricky to box with somebody like Floyd atsch. Ricky's game is to come close ruff up Catchweather and work the inside. I'm surprise Ricky even lasted that long with Cortez help atsch.
You win the early rounds that he tends to somewhat cede,using one strategy.You then change your strategy for each round,5-8,giving it everything you've got.For rounds 9-12 you use a defense based strategy,allowing Mayweather to attempt to take over.Fluster him,embarrass him and put the onus on him to step up his attacks.Backpedal,use parrys,flailing arms and hugs(make it ugly as hell,deny him clean effective aggression).MAKE Mayweather over-aggressive,and then turn the tables on him in spots. I don't suggest this plan for Canelo,per se.But just in a generic sense I feel this is THEE plan to defeat Mayweather.
I do agree with you on making it a dirty fight, but I don't think you can make Floyd over-aggressive...you gotta take it to him. Mosley almost put him away in the 2nd, because he took it to him. Floyd was nervous in that fight until his uncle calmed him down after that 2nd round.
You must have a great jab. It all starts there. If you can't hit Floyd with the jab, you sure as hell aren't going to land many power shots. I disagree with people who say "pressure him" in regard to a brawler style of fighting. The pressure you should be applying is with the jab and intelligent boxing by fighting behind it. If you are following Floyd around looking for power shots, you will get picked apart.
