I'd have thought the answer to why Margarito was shafted was obvious even to you. But let me explain it to you......

1 ... Tony was supposed to be just a stepping stone for the supposedly awesome Miguel Cotto. Even Dela Hoya bragged " I want the winner of Cotto-Margarito as my sign out fight" Some people labeled him The Statue & I was ridiculed for predicting Tony would KO Cotto. BUT Tony proved to be far better than expected beat down Cotto & made him take a knee in submission & QUIT!!!! This put a wrench in the works it wasn't supposed to happen, but folk forgot to give Tony the script.
What happened was Oscar saw what Tony did to Cotto & quickly changed his mind about facing the winner. He didn't want his pretty face beaten up. Yes by beating Cotto so badly Tony cost a lot of people a lot of $$$$. No one relished the thought of facing him so they had to come up with a way to get rid of him.
2... The wraps scene was a total fiasco. The CSAC insp watched Tony getting wrapped passed & signed off on the wrap. Then Richardson , in a bid to get inside Tony's head insisted the wraps be removed. When they were he came up with ridiculous statements concerning 'plastic inserts" & Plaster pads. Pure Bull**** from start to finish. He got inside Tony's head OK & in my opinion caused enough commotion that Mosely slipped through un noticed juiced to the gills. The CSAC acted like the Keystone Kops rushing in and banning Tony even though the lab that tested the so called tainted wraps deemed the m HARMLESS!!!!!!!!! When asked by Tony's rep to produce the legendary wraps the CSAC rep embarrassingly stammered & stuttered " We do not have them any more they got MISLAID!!!!!!!!!" atsch A state boxing commission , who's inspector had already passed the wraps as OK, don't forget then claimed they were illegal banned Tony from boxing. BUT when asked to produce the wraps they claimed to have mislaid the only evidence they claimed to have??? Utter Bullcrap!!!

3.... You claim Tony was never the same after & his power was gone? His warm up fight after 2 years forced lay off was just that He needed it to remove the ring rust. He fought Manny Paquaio at the time P4P#1
Ask Manny Paquaio if Tony had lost any punching power ? After the fight Manny had to receive hospital treatment for his badly battered body. Manny himself said Margarito hit him harder than he had ever been hit before.. Sadly in that fight Tony's eye was permanently damaged . Cotto's reps saw this & suddenly wanted the rematch he'd refused before. He was thinking I can beat a one eyed guy I guess. Even though Tony was fighting with one eye for most of the fight Cotto could not put Margarito away. Suddenly Margarito started to get to Cotto & Cotto started to wilt. What happens next ?? The NY doctor suddenly decides Tony cannot continue because he cannot see out of the eye. But he'd fought for 6 or 7 rounds with one eye, why did the doc wait till Cotto started to wilt to stop the fight??? In my opinion & many many more peoples opinion the doc stopped the fight to save Cotto the possible embarrassment of having to QUIT!! AGAIN!!!!
So you think that made Tony a punching bag??? Shows what you know about the sport.
Antonio Margarito got a very raw deal from boxing purely because he won when he wasn't supposed to That SUXXXX:twisted::twisted:
