Dan Rafael: According to Neilsen, Sat's @HBOboxing card had 1.024M viewers for Dawson-Stevenson & 947K for Gamboa-Perez, which crushed @SHOsports

    Dan Rafael: Cards went head-to-head w/ @SHOsports drawing 594K for Maidana-Lopez main event, 471K for Lara-Angulo and 207K for Charlo-Hopkins

    Via his twitter account.

WOW! Showtime had the better fights yet still couldn't draw.. HBO is the future BABY! :scaredas:

Showtime is trying to win viewers over gradually. They know they won't come right away. They've never drawn more viewers than HBO, but they don't have to in order to increase profits.
Plus if it takes them 3-5 years in order to surpass HBO overall views, then it was worth it.

HBO ain't ****. That's just name recognition for HBO. Their **** is winding down and as soon as people learn where the real fights are they are doomed.

HBO has million-fold better production than Showtime. So long as it maintains its superior product, they will always be the premier station for boxing.

HBO hypes their fights better, but their actual product is getting worse. Showtime's commentary blew HBO's out the water last Saturday. I had to almost turn the damn volume off during the Gamboa fight

Name recognition and reputation is huge. Think McDonald's or Nestle. You can't buy that, and thats where the profits lay.

Floyd made a big mistake moving his fights to the #2 network.

Well I think HBO commentary, Ledderman, Michael Buffer etc is a lot more exciting than Showtime's commentary, but ultimately we are just two people. I think the world prefers HBO's product. It's rich in history and its just so classy.

More than anything this shows that what the casual fans want and what ESB want are two different things. 90% here said they were watching Showtime so clearly this board doesn't speak for the typical boxing fan.

Less-exciting fights between big names vs More-exciting fights between lesser names.

Lampley sucks and is super biased, but he does bring excitement. That's one issue I used to have with Showtime's commentary tbh. It has gotten better recently though

$32 million/fight at age 36. Are you stupid or something? I'll go fight in Tijuana for that kind of payday.
