yeah but there is not alot of Judo sessions at MMA gyms so would be an extra cost, i dont understand how an amateur mma fighter would fit all the needed BJJ and wrestling aswell as striking into his programme?

For application, I would say wrestling but for technique I think boxing is very good because typically all disciplines are tailored to come from a boxing stance.

Wrestling is best. No doubt about it. It may be tough finding a good wrestling school, but I'm sure there are BJJ schools who have one or two guys who have a wrestling background who can help.

Continuing your boxing training along with Judo for a year or two is going to be well worth your money. I started a similar path as yourself and was lucky to be steered into complimentary Judo training which i found really helped my boxing. These two then eventually led to me choosing Muay Thai and Judo as my base styles.

Perhaps delay a MMA facility and get a solid base in a distinct second art at a good local school - which are also cheaper in my area, don't know about the UK. I presume you have a good background in boxing - maybe the detailed stand up grappling, sweeping and throwing found in judo would fit the bill.

Does Judo encompass Jujitsu as well? Is there any point in learning wrestling if you know Judo?

and yeah my boxing is pretty decent i know all the basic bjj moves such as kimura, arm bar, triangle etc and few BJJ takedowns but i dont think these takedowns would be so effective in a mma contest.

Newaza (subs) is contained in judo however BJJ has taken it from judo, refined and grown it to the great complimentry art it is today.

    :thumbsup

Think judo or even sambo as suggested would be ideal. You are going to get plenty of opportunities in judo randori to work the subs you know once you are established at any good club. You may well find that they already cross train and compete in grappling interclubs with BJJ and JJJ - that is certainly the case where I live with interclubs hosted almost monthly.

You will need both wrestling and BJJ

I prefer free style wrestling coupled with boxing personally. I think it goes well as a pair, Rashad Evans, Vitor, Barao etc.

JJ and Wrestling is the key, that said if its a pure boxing background then front foot offensive free style is the best grappling art for you. But everyone needs a JJ game, in any style.

    What thewinfella said.

Sounds like you've already experienced plenty of lewd and undignified man-to-man sack rubbing, so you're good to go.
