**** Sky Boxing and **** Eddie Hearn ;)

  2. The friday fight nights only had a 2 hour slot, often starting at 9 or 10 pm, meaning the first televised fight was often the main event. No real build up, no real atmosphere! yes there was more shows, but what you get now is structured fight cards televised for 3-4 hours and leading to a main event. more cash goes into the production of the shows too, creating a better atmosphere for fans.

Yes there are less shows, but I think Sky are building for the long term, one step back two steps forward, build the quality, bring new fans and more shows will come..

Maybe they could do 24 shows a year, 2 a month but tier them differently like 1 of Eddies big international fight nights per month, but also an old school friday show once a month, brit/comm level main event. And if Sky insist on some Prizefighters, stick them on a tuesday or somethin like that, thoughts?

You should have been sat next to me at the O2 when 18,000 people were going nuts at that fight. Average? ****ing hell, FOTY candidate? (yeah, Alvarado - Rios II will get it), but average?

  9. What exactly was surprising about this fight between 2 undefeated all time greats unifying all belts in the division?

    Two boxers throwing punches?
    Knockdowns every round?
    Surprising points decision?
Confirming the obvious that a decent Danish fighter was well past his best?
Froth winning on points as highly expected per the bookies?

Sure that people will be mentioning this amongst the great fights in the future - my arse

Will be remembered as 2 fighters highly paid for an average fight

The recent Fury fight is what you call entertainment

Eddie has done pretty well so far but its clear he needs more dates. With Prizefighter, if they are doing good numbers & attracting the casual fan then they will continue, its as simple as that. Fast Car is also building his stable nicely.
Whats disapointed me is that 2 of bigger names in the stable (Brook & Barker) havent been topping the bills in big fights, but thats down to injurys, so no blame there.
Froch v Kessler was top notch, the atmosphere in the arena was great & you could take your beer through to your seats, thats important if you want a crowd for your undercard (& mustn't be underestimated!!!). Other boxing shows ive been you couldnt do this & therefore the undercard is less than half full!!! Boxing fans are in large part the more meathead elements from the football & therefore like beer!!
In my opinion, for Tony Bellew & Brian Rose to top a bill, the rest of the undercard has to be really top notch with good competative fights & stacked, as both are fringe world level at best. The talent isnt all there to see when they fight compared with Barker & Brook. The undercards with both Bellew & Rose weren't that strong & could have been better.
The next knock which Eddie will face & which i can see building (& which has already been mentioned) is that Eddie sends his fighters abroad for their title shots. Its clearly difficult with the American ££ & HBO & that to get the title shots in this country. On the other hand there are 4 belts in each weight class. Frank has managed to get title shots in this country for his fighters in the past, & McDonnell got one at home for his. Until Eddie gets a couple for his stable, that will keep getting thrown in his face.
Overall Eddie has done fairly well but now his stable has improved everyone is now expecting more.

I'm not sure as to the reason behind it but I agree that it is very weird. I think it's only about 6 weeks or so and the BBBC seem to be the only one to enforce it. I think it is just something that has been picked up from the amateurs.

I like Hearns shows for the most part but can't stand Prizefighter anymore.

I remember one god awful show that was on sky in 2011. Stuey Hall in the main event beating up some midget in something that looked like a school gym. There wasn't a lot of people there and I may be misremembering this but I'm pretty sure some of the fans were kept away from the ring by a rope.
