Korobov's facing a decent test tonight in Ossie Duran. While it's only an 8 rounder, I'm hoping it answers some questions regarding his long absence and to see if he's ready to join the ranks of the top MW's.

Also does anybody know what's going on with Avtandil Khurtsidze? I can't believe he's not fighting on the undercard of Macklin-Golovkin?

Korobov could be an X factor in the MW division.
    Was such an impressive amateur.

I am not holding out much hope for Korobov in the pro's. He started to go south the final year or so of his amateur career as well. Couple that with frequent changes in trainers and God knows what eles behind the scenes and I have no other choice then be very skeptical.

He looked very good tonight. He's been holding back too long. He needs to be looking at a top 20 guy at this stage. Someone like Vera would be good.

Korobov is not running anywhere. As soon as he faces a live fighter he's cut and done.

He hasn't done anything with a career that's lasted five years already. Stringing together 20 wins in that time is all well and good but the **** on his record is meaningless as its all just been record building. When he first turned pro I was impressed with how he went about his work but as with any prospect that doesn't step up after a prolonged period of time, you have to become skeptical just to maintain a sense of perspective.

Duran's not that great, but he is durable. Getting a guy who's never been stopped out of there early is a step in the right direction. I hope there's not much of a layoff and we get to see Korobov fight a more live opponent early fall :good

I see where you're coming from, but to be fair, it's not as if he's promoting himself. It looks to me like Top Rank put him on the backburner in favor of focusing on Chavez Jr. and Pavlik. Now Kelly's retired and Chavez may never make the weight again, and it's no coincidence that now you'll see Korobov get his push.

Ryoto Murata will be on the fast track, as well. Arum wants a middleweight presence, and those are the most talented 2 in his stable at the weight.

Indeed. Good to see him back in the mix, fluid, strong - I think he makes top 10 at 160 with a couple of step up fights. Ossie Duran was just the right level to show he's still relevant - and he just took care of business. Maybe get him in with one of the Brits next.
