I can understand why some might call it a fix, there were elements to the bout that were strange. But it was not 'clearly' a fix, as there is more than enough doubt to hold up the cleaness of the bout in any legal action.

It was without a doubt a set up! An American and his camp brought over on an all expenses paid holiday to lose when any British or European fighter could of fought at a tenth of the cost! He was well briefed on what not to do in that fight, that was clear as day.

I don't think boxing is as bent as many people do, but if there was one fight that was fixed it was this one.

From the point of view that the fighter was brought into lose, yes it was fixed. But that is normal practice in boxing, hardly unusual and I do not understand why it has got the debate it has got...

But everybody is different, I picked up the 'basics' in my short spell in the amateur sport, but was still absolutely shocking in the couple of fights that I had as a youth.

Flintoff was an old novice who was unable to play Cricket due to his bad knee, so why he choose Boxing I do not know. But he was an honest fighter who sucked it up despite his obvious flaws.

I too am not very comfortable with him using the sport, but he got it publicity, and those on the bill I suspect got a better pay day because of this. As long as that is it, I do not understand the ill feeling towards 'Freddie'...

I don't have any ill feeling towards him at all.

In fact I respect him more for having a go at boxing, considering I think his overall standing as a cricketer is far higher than someone with his stats ought to have. He really wasn't all that, save for the odd brilliant performance here and there.

To be honest I think his finest hour was his spell with the ball during the thrashing at Brisbane back in 2007, better than anything he did in the 2005 Ashes.

I know a lad who was told by Billy Nelson that it was fixed and that everyone in the fight game knows it was..

  8. I don't have I'll feeling towards flintoff

But he was given a professional license and so should of been expected to perform like a professional not a novice sparring

For me the punch Dawson landed that put Flintoff down was class and was instinctive. His other work throughout the fight was like someone who didn't have any ability to even walk in a straight line.

It doesn't and never will sit well with me. The way he didn't go after Flintoff who was displaying a shaky front leg.

To me Dawson knew his role bar one second where he forgot the script..

  11. Yeah Dawsons knockdown was classy and instinctive

So totally different to the rest of his performance
If Dawsons career falters I would love him to sell his story to the press
And they are always interested in ruining reputations flintoff and mcguigan would be nice pickings for them

Now I don't want to see Barry who I admire greatly and flintoff who I like roasted nationally but they won't be and don't deserve to be if it was all legit will they

If Dawson has just beat a 16-3 guy by a wide UD, you would have to suspend all belief to genuinely feel that he lost on points to Freddy AFTER scoring a knockdown anything other than deliberately

The worse thing was Freddie was 3/1 to win on points! That was mental looking back and I won money on it.

The whole episode just underlines why I lack respect for certain journeymen who clearly don't try.

Every time I've ever competed in sport I've always given 100%, and ****ing hate losing.

I once played in a team that was whacked by the best part of 100 points, afterwards all the boys said in the change room that we'd never get done like that again. Next time we played that team, we drew with them. On another occasion I played in a Yorkshire Cup semi final with a popped shoulder.

Why people would be paid to get beat is beyond me.
