Who made the most of the natural talent (or lack of )

Listening to a podcast abut Carl froch and his win over kessler and was thinking about his achievements in boxing compared to his natural ability. Andre dirrell has far more talent than froch but No heart for example. Yes I know froch won amateur silver medal btw

Other examples I can think of are ricky hatton , I know some people will say his boxing skills were under rated but floyd exposed him really. But still ended up with over 30mil

Another is David haye, I take the line from Jim Jampley talking about Roy jones jr, if the idea is to get in win as many fights take the least amount of punishment and make the most money , the David haye has done ****ing well for him self. David haye having around 15-20 mil proves he made the most of his talent.

Bhop is probably the best example of someone who has maximised their talent. Not the most gifted like boxers such as Ali, RJJ or Mayweather, but the guy has been World Class throughout his career and is easily comparible to the best boxers in history.

Just a few boxers that spring to mind that i think have failed to maximise their talent: Naseem Hamed, James Toney, Zab Judah, Chad Dawson, Tyson (later on).

:roll: bad answer. Freakish natural power in his right hand, super rock solid chin, unrelenting stamina, and incredible god given physical strength. those are all natural talents.

 

i think molina is way way way underrated....for me he is the 154 version of juan diaz

You're basicaly looking at all the Baldomir-clones, hardmen that have picked up a strap here and there and sold it for a payday.

Never realy considered punch-resistance as a 'natural talent' either, it's a virtue to be able to take a shot, just not too many of them.

Juan Manuel Marquez. He is no Floyd Mayweather or any boxer with ridicolous gifts but he is certainly the smartest

 

I disagree Chavez is very intelligent and has demonstrated a vastly underrated defense.

In an era where he was not supposed or allowed to do anything. Overcame it with skills.

Had speech/social/mental "issues" in early schooling.

Not the greatest height or reach.

Not the greatest chin; he went down several times.

Not very good foot speed (although his foot placement was very good).

 

I think Froch is a good shout.
