Is David Haye vs Tyson Fury a mismatch?

  1. Right lets face facts,I like haye I really do but these forums in general overrate him

All we ever hear is if a non punching cruiser like Cunningham blah blah blah
Cunningham had just easily beaten adamek but got robbed and is 6 foot 3 for gods sake he isn't a midget and is a world class boxer

Haye Cunningham would be a good fight

    This.

Haye has never beaten anybody as good as current Cunningham and that should be blindingly obvious to everybody unless you have some sort of emotional attachment to David Haye.

Fury has been put down by non punching average fighters. His feet are too slow for Haye imo. Hes open to the right hand over the top almost everytime he throws his own jab. I cant see why people will think this fight will even be competitive.

It seems people are basing the rationale on Fury winning that Haye will get tired. Some game plan.

it should be a Haye destruction, but if the bigboy can stay Haye off he should point up for a while. but a while only, Haye should realistically knock **** out him!

Both times he got put down, he never actually looked that hurt.

It isn't like there are no doubts about Haye's chin.

And that is just the sort of opinion which keeps me, and presumably others, off forums...

    Shocking.

The whole fight comes down to whether Haye can land that right hand or not, Fury hasn't been hard to hit with it before but those were in fights when he didn't box at all and basically just turned them into pub scraps.

If Fury just leans back and pops the jab in his face Haye can't reach him, if Haye tries to lean in to catch him then Fury smothers him up close and leans on him and tires him out. If Haye can't get to Fury with a big shot in the first 8 rounds I think Fury tires him out and beats him up. It could be a big shock, people are taking it for granted that Fury is easy to hit and has a dodgy chin but if he sticks to a game plan like he did against Johnson he could frustrate Haye.

Having said all that, I just think the atmosphere and build up will get to Tyson, his plan will go out the window, he'll try and mix it and get caught and stopped. I do feel that if he stuck to a plan though and boxed smart he could beat Haye.

It's not a mismatch. They're both among the top heavyweight contenders around and both still have questions to answer.

Fury has all the tools to beat Haye and in his last fight, when he stopped dicking around, he used his size to stop a good fighter pretty easily.

Haye on the other hand, has shown the ability to stay elusive against bigger guys and has more than enough power to trouble Tyson.

If this fight was in two years, I'd pick Fury. At the minute, I can't see him being able to avoid that right hand for 12 rounds.

Regardless of what I or anyone thinks though, sometimes you do need to see things play out in the ring. I think Haye will win, but he has to prove it.

I could actually see this being a real stinker too. Haye will back off and drop his hands waiting for Fury to do something and open up and Fury will back away just sticking that jab in his face trying to collect the rounds. Could be one of those where nothing happens for the first 5-6 rounds then finally it starts to heat up....

If Fury has any sense he will just box on the back foot and pick up rounds because he has the size, footwork and stamina to beat Haye with that approach, but Haye has the power and boxing ability to KO Fury if Fury fights his fight.

It will be interesting for me as it happens for that very reason but it could end up being one of those fights that is not worth watching back.

Exactly. I think people are over looking Fury's punching power too. Fury can actually bang a bit when he sits on his punches.

    1) He looked pretty fat to me, and old might have been the wrong word, but certainly past it, he lost to tor hamer in the fight before Fury and was Ko'ed in his next fight...not sure who these fringe contenders are?

    2) He is always fat but he was especially fat and out of shape against Fury, and he came in at a career highest weight IIRC. Not to mention the fact that Haye knocked Chisora out in 5.

    3) He was put down and had all sorts of trouble with Cunningham who is not known as a puncher, even at cruiserweight.

    4) I wouldn't say brushed aside with ease, beaten comfortably is more like it, but he barely got hit, he just didn't land himself. And the reason he didn't land was because of Wladimir's speed of foot, which meant Haye was always out of range, which Tyson Fury doesn't have.

    5) By the skin of his teeth? It was a dull fight on the whole and a tactical affair but Haye won pretty comfortably, he may have danced his way to that win and been pretty negative but he won comfortably.

For me Haye has fought at a higher level for longer as both a cruiserweight and Heavyweight as well as as an amateur. He's a far more natural athlete, is quicker, more skilled, and has more power. He hasn't been in trouble as a heavyweight, where as Fury has been down numerous times and against low level opposition too, sure it's down to being careless but that doesn't bode well. The only thing Fury has on Haye is a huge size advantage but I don't think that will be enough for him to win. He's too sloppy. Fury is better than Valuev and I think the fight is a competitive one, but Wlad he is not and Haye will win imo.

I don't see why anyone would take offense at that, it's only an opinion and a fair one at that.

Exactly, but you know that respect, politeness and fair comment means nothing to a generation of ignorant pricks... they don't even look at your comment, just that you don't agree with them. School yard pettiness & mentality!

a lost generation. and as I have now said for the 3rd time it should be a Haye victory/stoppage!!!
