james Kirkland is a decent gatekeeper? guy has wins over Molina, a prime angulo, Julio, vera and Lyell to go along with his 84 percent ko ratio, one of the highest in all of boxing(wlad and vitali are at 81 and 87 percent, respectively. other than maybe lara, his record at 154 is better than anyones. putting the name James Kirkland next to the word gatekeeper is pretty stupid.
yes and I bet on Kirkland knowing that Molina was probably going to get robbed on the cards(gale de hoye is a gbp judge). that being said I gamble on fights and just don't look at boxrec.com like most of the idiots here to surmise and opinion. james tore out his right shoulder in that fight and was still able to knock down Molina, who had never been knocked down before. kirkland also kod Julio, vera and lylell(who later went 10 rounds with mw chavez jr.) and prime angulo. a mentally-sound james Kirkland with good management is the best value in boxing right now(this battery charge, since it is family-related, could be nothing more than an attempt to simply extort money from james). Kirkland has shown the ability to fight through adversity(Molina/angulo) and has proven one-punch ko power. if james is a gatekeeper then canelito is a journeyman.
Lets not forget that GBP's influence got him out of prison a few years ago... and now that he has alienated them it is safe to believe that he will rot in prison
Saw Kirkland in Vegas for the Floyd-Ghost fight and he seriously was so cool and down to Earth. He looked in good shape, good spirits, and seemed really matured. Was very open and took pics with us. So sad to see this. You can tell he's a good guy who is just in the wrong environment
why on earth would you remove Molina? what do you not understand that james is the only person to ever knock down carlos? with a bum sholder that needed surgery immediately following the fight? and an inactive angulo? he fought two months prior to the Kirkland fight? don't be dumb. james is no gatekeeper.
I cant access the link is blocked for some odd reason. I'll have to askjeeves.com query this. What had Mandingo Warrior done now?
i think he had some legitimate gripes about his ppl and golden boy...but being under contract, he didn't have many other options. not many ppl would take the stand like he did...they'd just continue to take it up the ass and get paid. it's unfortunate he's back in jail. i wish the dude well. he'd be a great addition to the current landscape at 154-160 with a healed shoulder.
