Couldn't agree more. Be shocked if this takes place.

Yes, if Mark Nelson or Richie Davies is there officiating to disqualify Kovalev for throwing head shots in the 1st. (but hopefully before he lands too flush)

  3. Richie Davis is a good ref

Kovalev has an awkward style. He's very accurate and he appears to hurt opponents and force them back when they have their guards up, a clear hit and opponents fall. He has a good long jab and clubbing combinations. There's a solidness about him. If his stamina lasts, if he has a good chin (has he ever been rocked?) and he can adapt when things go against him, this guy could be a really good world champion. I'd be surprised if he didn't win a belt, but if I was his team, I would not go the Hopkins route. ;)

Not always. He could never be half as bad as the UK's "Big Three"/Hall of Shame (Dave Parris, Howard John Foster, and Terry O'Connor) but he isn't among the most consistently sound either.

He dropped the ball a bit when Cleverly fought Bellew.

Mark Nelson isn't even British, yet there's always something up when he works a Cleverly match...and curiously, he to date has done so thrice.

  6. Ian John Lewis and mark green are I'm afraid poor British refs

The sad fact is - is that if Cleverly wasn't a world champion and say just European champion then people would value his talents more.

Yip. We're too quick to jump up on the backs of successful sportspeople in this country.

I actually really rate Cleverly highly, though it's high time he stepped up his level of opponents.

Kovalev (despite not having a great depth of resume himself) would be too high a jump in class from what Cleverly has fought thus far.

Cleverly definitely needs a step up in opponent ie one that he might not be favourite against, I hope it raises his game.

Can't see this fight being made, but if it was.. yeah I'd favour Clev.

From what I've seen of Kovalev.. I do rate him. But I've watched Cleverly for a while now, was at his last fight against Krasniqi & he is very underrated.

Hopefully ***** steps the competition up for him soon because the ability is there.

Strong, great work rate, good variety.

Cleverly's got a fan friendly style. He throws loads of shots & likes to go to war, which is good to watch. Looking forward to Cleverly v Kovalev, should be good.

Cleverly is a good fighter but he is a proper weapon. His arl fella is even worse.
