Max Kellerman's pronunciation of Broner

This is not meant to hijack the thread, but the mention of Kellerman brings this question to mind.

What possible reason did they have for giving Max Sean O'Grady's spot? Sean knew the game inside-out (not by memorizing BoxRec), was articulate, and didn't shrink from asking hard questions.

 

He definitely isn't the only person to pronounce the "-eaux" part "ee-ow". In fact, that is the only way I've ever heard it on any English language broadcast.

 

That is the correct pronunciation, from the Cuban point of view. In Spanish, the "eaux" is pronounced "ay-ow". They ignore the "x", and separate the "eau" into two syllables "e" (pronouned "ay" as in "stay") and "au" (pronounced "ow" like in "cow").

 

God, I'll never forget that ****. What a insensitive piece of **** comment that was.

Kellerman's fawning of all 'inner-city' fighters is sickening. His ass-kissing is so cringe worthy, predictable and never-ending that it makes it impossible to see him as an unbiased commentator or even competent.

Remember his 'Zab Judah is Pernell Whitaker with Mike Tyson's punch comment' or when he laughed during a Friday Night Fights segment when he was fielding questions from the audience and when asked about the Klitchkos being champions he just laughed and said "Um No". Truly this guy is a waste of skin but anybody who knows the part he played in his brother's undoing at the hands of James Butler already knows that.

If anyone tapes old FNF on espn please try to pull the old ask max segments. Gold mine of material on this idiot

From what I've been told, unnamed sources, and from seeing how Max behaved after the James Butler sucker-punch incident when Butler sucker punched a fighter live on FNF after the decision went against him it's a no-brainer. First off after the sucker punch Max said people shouldn't be too harsh on Butler and deprive him of being able to make a living. He compared it to a press conference incident between Morales and Barrera where Morales punched Barrera, doing no damage, before one of their rematches. Max didn't even mention the guy Butler sucker punched, 'Alien' Grant, just said leniency should be shown toward Butler. Max may have written a letter on Butler's behalf as a character reference prior to Butler being sentenced on that assault charge, for the sucker punch, not 100% sure of that.

What I have no doubt of is that Max told his brother Sam that he should let Butler stay with him when Sam expressed doubts as to whether or not it was a good idea. Max is so in love with the 'inner-city' life he knows so little about, well through rap song and some boxers he associates with superficially, that he thought that Butler's sucker punch was alright in a street sense, may have even admired him for doing it if you watch how he responded on air when it happened, and missed the obvious warning signs of Butler's unstable mental state which led to his encouraging his brother to let Butler move in with him.

Make no mistake in his heart Max knows he is party to what happened but is too neurotic to ever change his thug loving ways, or accept his role in his brother's undoing.

 

Interesting read altough Ithink people are harder than they should be on Kellerman.

He is a fan of the sport and does the best job he can.Plus with this issues with his brother it's a bit of love-hate-loving the sports that took away(or one of ot's members) his bro.

It certainly was.

 

An all-time fave of mine was when Angelo Dundee was doing color commentary (along with Gil Clancy, I think) on a Roberto Duran fight against Josef Nsubuga, when the African started to try to fight inside with Duran (couple of fights before Montreal):

"Well, Sha-boo-ga or In-sha-boo-ga or whatever we're calling him, he better watch it or he's gonna get knocked out."

 

Nothing could be worse then Teddy's butchering of Hispanic last names...
