Prime Foreman blatantly ducked Earnie Shavers, who was basically a glass-jawed version of Mike Tyson.

And you guys think that the fat old version of Foreman would have stood a chance against iron-chinned, lightning-fast, thunder-puncher Mike Tyson??? Wake up, folks. Foreman himself didn't believe it; he just needed the money really badly.

Im not saying Spinks would beat Foreman, but Spinks did beat Holmes twice (albeit controversially). Same Holmes that Foreman has been accused of ducking for a long time.

Believe it or not, there was a time when people believed Tyson was ducking Spinks

 

First of all the statement that Foreman ducked Shavers is pure bunk. Shavers was ko'ed by Ron Stander and then by Gerry Quarry and Ron Lyle ... at what point did Foreman duck him since Shavers was not even a fringe contender till 75 or so ? Total crap statement ... the much larger Lyle was a much more dangerous opponent for George and Foreman fought him in his comeback fight post ALi so let's get real on the fabricated revisionism ..

Old George had a chance vs Tyson. Esp if there was any fear in Mike--regardless of who put it there.
Ruddock had Tyson in trouble. Old George prob was better than prime Razor.

 

WHy are some of you arguing with Foreman's answer? He obviously qualified to give his opinion.

Young Foreman would have crushed Tyson. I've always thought so (so it must be true!)

 

Ofcourse Foreman would have a chance. He would have a 5-10 heavyweight walking right to him and bobbing and weaving into those uppercuts. With no lateral movement and no reverse gear. George wouldve teed off with both hands. Foreman could move a man with glancing blows and hurt you through your gloves.

Not saying he`s a lock but George Foreman has a chance against anyone he can find. He wouldnt have to go looking for Mike. It would have been an explosive fight. Foreman was definitley mentally tougher if it goes any distance.

prime vs prime foreman would knock tyson out 10/10 times , styles make fights and foreman had every advantage in this match, he was bigger,stronger, tougher physically and mentally, he ha dmore heart, he did hit harder and foreman simply killed short agressive guys.
tyson could outpoint old foreman like morrison did, but then i can´t imagine tyson fighting like a ***** , one thing is sure if tyson trades with foreman george would **** him alive.

 

Dwight Qawi, all 5'6" of him, did pretty well against Foreman for 7 rounds. Qawi seemed to be able to hit George fairly easily. Imagine what Tyson would do against a comebacking George.
Prime Foreman -- that's a different story. But I still think Tyson would be a huge problem for prime Foreman.

 

Prime Foreman destroys Tyson IMO. Foreman only has to back Tyson up and he's won the fight. Styles make fights, and Tyson's suits Foreman.

 

And the opposite holds true: Foreman's plodding, come-forward style suits a quick-fisted, powerful guy like Tyson. Guys that could move and box and give angles gave Tyson the most trouble, and that doesn't describe George Foreman's style.
