Floyd Mayweather has some good names on his resume, but they were pretty much all faded fighters by the time Floyd fought them.

Oscar was past his prime. Shane was definitely faded at age 40. Cotto was obviously not the same after his brutal fights with Pacquiao and Margarito. Genaro Hernandez was faded by the time Floyd fought him.

Did Floyd avoid the best boxers when they were in their prime? Why did he not fight Shane between 2000-2007, Tszyu 2001-2005, Cotto 2007-2008, Williams 2007-2009, Margarito 2006-2008, Casamayor between 2003-2006, or Forrest 2001-2007?

He's fighting Canelo at a catchweight next (it was pathetic of Floyd to demand a catchweight) but I think Alvarez won't reach his prime for another year or two.

The thread asks has Floyd ever beaten an ATG in his prime, and he obviously has not. But I'm not sure he's even beaten a bona fide elite boxer in his prime.

Corrlaes in his prime, Castillo was, Hatton,Marquez. Corrales might not be an ATG but i think he would've if he didnt pass away, but was for sure in his prime and was KO everybody.

Mayweather has tried to fight everybody. He tried to fight casamayor and Frietas, even said he would come down to 128 to fight them and they both turned it down (google it)

Margarito was a nobody and didnt derserve any fight with mayweather.

Mayweather tried to fight Cotto after the Gatti fight (Arum said no) thats why that didnt happen.

and for the rest of the duckers, heres a nice video for ya. ***********.youtube.com/watch?v=Qjiksb3bCxw

This thread doesn't need any posts. It's already been done a million times and you've already come to your own conclusion, so what the ****'s the point.

It is all angles, fighters starting to slide, or not in their weight division. To be fair this **** has gone on for years, the net just make its easier to report on. The papers over here were running a Henry Cooper story about the fight with then Clay. Cooper only weighed 180 at best, but he wore weights in his gown for the weigh in. So..... well whatever

People keep claiming he ducked fighters like De la Hoya, Mosley Kasta Tyzua and others. The truth is none of them wanted to fight Floyd at the time, because he wasn't a big draw. He was to much risk and very little reward. Once Floyd became the new face of boxing that's when he was worth a shot by all, because they wanted his spot.

hmm... I don't remember it that way. True that Floyd couldn't draw flies before De la Hoya. But you can't blame DLH or Mosley for not calling out Floyd when Floyd was 2 weight divisions below.
Don't remember Floyd ever mentioning Tszyu...again Floyd was in a lower weight class.
It was all on Floyd to move up and fight those guys. Which he did...in choosing De la Hoya. And it worked out pretty good for him.

No, I don't dislike Floyd. I find him kind of funny, especially when he tries to cover up his relationship with Ellerbe.

I do think he's overrated and has avoided the best fighters when they were in their primes.

The best example is his "retirement" in 2007 when the welterweight division had a lot of good fighters like Cotto, Williams, Mosley, etc.

So would all the Mayweather haters like to tell us exactly who he ducked at S / Feather, and Lightweight that were in their prime?

How about when he went to 140, and Kostya was well past his best, so he tried to get Cotto, and Arum refused the fight?

The same at 147 when Oscar, and Shane were past their best, Margarito was garbage, and the same thing happened with Arum and his new cash cow Pac. Forget the testing bull****, Arum knew Mayweather was by far and away the best fighter on the planet, and there was no way he was gonna let him humiliate the Fillipino.

So yes he has beaten ATG's in their prime, but there were none in his divisions above 135 when he was there.

Only Mayweather haters and fools would beleive that the fvcking idiot Pacquioa or Margarito were / are ATG's at 147.

ATG's in their primes at the same weight rarely cross paths. Someone like Ray Leonard who fought and beat Hearns, Bentiz and Duran (If you insist on calling him a ATG) is an expection not the rule.

    This....

Also you have to consider this. If you were a fighter, and Mayweather was on your radar, can you honestly tell me you would want to fight him?

Probably be easy to say yes from your armchair, but in reality I would do everything to get away from that fight if I was in my prime (just being honest)

You have to remember a lot of potentials that he probably chased ducked Mayweather, not the other way round. People seem to forget that the daunting task of fighting him would put many a man off, regardless of what they say in front of the cameras
