Adrien Broner is quickly becoming the most overrated fighter of all time ?

For once I think he is being hated a bit too much for nothing really. I was pissed of when he didn't make weight and that is. The way he destroyed the competition at 135 was impressive. He is not p4p top 5 though that's for certain.

 

word on the gym is that he is training extremely hard though

 

He's not at Roy Jones stage of overrated just yet

He's alright but his resume is full of midgets and his next victim is paula, come on. He easily has the weakest CV! his best win to date is De leon. You saw what happen to Dele he spanked by Mares. atsch

 

Pulev is the one overrated. He's fought nothing but trash cans and only haves 9 Ko's yet he is about to get a title shot which ofcourse he will be beat with ease by Wlad Duckschko

I like paulie and want him to win, quite a big fan of the magic man actually.

Can't stand broner. Very unlikeable guy. I make no excuses, I don't like him therefore I hope he loses every fight he is in. Cannot see me ever willing him on to win.

However, if he beats paulie, then at least we may see him fight Rios. This personally apart from Bradley v Berto, is one of the most intruiging fights about stylistically.

 

Daniel ponce de Leon beat Broner by at least 3 or 4 rounds watch that fight again.
Ponce had some pop in his punches especially the left hook to Broners body he was landing it all night it sapped Broners movement big time. Paulie doesn't have the same pop but his movement will be key and should give Broner fits. Paulie will land some stinging shots his best chance is to win on cuts but this is unlikely in fact I could see paulie getting cut. Would be nice if Broner swelled up like Berto did vs. Guerrero haha

 

When it comes to business, brand recognition is more important than quality. Delahoya knows that better than anyone, and he is carefully building up the Broner brand.

I am making a prediction here: Broner will be the 5th opponent of Floyd, right before his retirement. There is a reason Broner went to 147, he will unify the belts, and being black and american will confirm, in the minds of americans, that he is as good as they say he is. Expect a match up of the century, billed as "Paqiao who?", with money May making over 100 mil in revenue, loosing a close, controversial decision to Broner, to retire as the richest athlete in history. This way Delahoya still has his cash cow, Broner is a millionaire so he can sniff all the hooker ******* he wants, and Floyd retires with enough money to last him at least 5 years.

 

Those who see him as an elite fighter and future ATG are definitely over rating him, he seems to be a good fighter no doubt, genuine world class operator, but he really doesn't stand out in terms of ability or skills.

Broner has decent speed, sound enough technique but he isn't the amazingly gifted fighter like Mayweather, Pac or Roy Jones were who all had tremendous natural talent. His skills and technique are sound but he doesn't have the skills of say a Rigo, Mayweather, Hopkins, Toney etc. Hell I'd say Canelo is far superior in terms of skills and technique.

It's possible he may improve greatly technically and in terms of defensive skills, counter punching, etc and become great in time like Hopkins and Barrera did but what we are seeing at the moment isn't anything to get overly excited about.

By comparing and modelling himself to Mayweather he attracts a lot of attention, some hope to see a next Mayweather in him which is why he gets so much hype while the more rational fans see he is clearly no Mayweather in terms of talent or ability. I definitely fall in to the later category.

 

He has a chin on him, he's got power and he's aggressive.. yet defensively minded.

Of course he can go ways, but its all up to him and he'll need to be dedicated to succeed.
Like JG said, instinct says he'll self-destruct at some point, hopefully later rather than soon, as there are some great viable fights out there for the man, and for boxing in general.

I don't find his character funny or witty, but I understand his point of view. He's trying to sell an image, that's all.
