Anyways.........I said on here a few weeks back when people were throwing up return bouts/names at Lightweight that I expect his return to be at Light Welter.

I can understand it being at Light Welter for a return/warmup/keep busy bout but just had a feeling he will move up in general given he been out of the ring for a while (I know that dosent equal a weight change) and he has always campaigned at Lightweight I think.

    Thoughts.....

if he can still make LW healthly, there could be a few good fights there esp with Crolla/Rees/Matthews that he could easily be involved with ... However if he as at LWW him and Limond might be a good dust up at some point ,although limonds last fight maybe was a bit of a flatliner

Its more Light Welter am thinking of........and if he does manage Lightweight I defo see a Mitchell rematch.....all politics aside.

Actually..........both of them at Light Welter could make sense.

Remember him at the Burns weigh in........he stripped naked for the unofficial one.

You must remeber that more than me

At Light Welterweight - him and Paul McCloskey could be an attractive fight

He shouldnt box again unless he learns how to defend himself... Can Arnie teach him how to defend himself?

Start him at 140. Allow him to have 5lbs extra and get him active he doesn't need any major fights for first 6-8 months he just needs to be active and develop in gym.

He's not got many miles on the clock left like others. He needs to be managed correctly and saved for the tough ones. Build up his confidence and get the momentum going and let him have one more crack at it.

If he can make lightweight in second comeback fight great if not let him fight at LWW.

John found a formula and become reliant on it. I often felt he'd make a slog of things because to him it was easier to slog it out and wear his man down then think and break down opponent slowly.

His jab needs to be better and more consistent, needs to be more side on to avoid uppercuts on inside and needs to work on balance and footwork (cutting ring off better) and even a teeny weeny bit of head movement which he never displayed before. Lot of things to work on but he was a good fighter and if he can just tweak a few things here and there he could well make another go of things albeit probably at domestic/european level still.

World level would be a massive ask but if he can stay in the ball game long enough and get back to winning consistently over a 12-16 month period there's no reason why he couldn't slip back into contention for a title.

The way he fought against Brandon Rios might have taken a couple of years off his career, fair play to John he hung in there and showed what a tough nut he is.I think he could be successful at lightweight but he needs to learn to defend himself or face the consequences of early retirement.

He stated himself he has a warm up fight in september and then will be returning to the lightweight division and is eyeing a fight with Rees and a possible rematch with Mitchell.

SOLID work as always and ayes I wanna see him feinting a lil..........actually I wanna see more fighters feinting.

Though many maybe do and we miss it via the screen (looking at opponents feet and firing a jab yadayada)

    :hi:
Didn't hear or see this.......alles goed.

I don't doubt for a second its not high on Arnie Farnells radar..........but its gonna be hard to instill such thoughts in a boy who been fighting as he has for so long I reckon.

Many hours will be spent on it no doubt but when its deep in the well time ala 9th round etc.......instinct comes into practise.

No doubt it will be......and wrongly.......

Murray wins = Arnie didn't train him

    Murray loses = Arnies fault

    Anyways.........gonna be sounds :smoke
